Grace concept drawing, basically I saw how a lot of people felt she should’ve been the one to take out Tatiana plus a few things about how it might’ve looked and all. I thought it was interesting (I still haven’t read tlh so I don’t have any opinions on it really) but I decided I wanted to draw it out for practice with rendering and different lightings and I ended up actually really liking it. I’ll probably also post a close up with just her clear face on insta because I’m enjoying my rendering improvement and you all should too

now let’s talk about cordelia’s insecurity surrounding james’ supposed type (i.e. grace) being white and how that fucked with her mentally

red/darker hair vs blonde, brown vs fair, curves condemned as lascivious vs a slim/dainty figure, thick hair that looks silly in western ringlets vs fine silky hair, rich dark colours because pastels don’t suit your skin vs a girl that can dress in white (+ fire vs ice)

cordelia was constantlyyy comparing her ethnic features to everything that made grace an english (idris?? 🥀🥀 ) rose

^^^ also the added assumption a white man will prefer a white partner and that, as a woc, she stands little to no chance (a famous rite of passage for most women of colour. cordelia GET BEHIND ME)
