6 Reasons NOT to hate Grace

1. SHE WAS 8

Like she was 8 when Tatiana literally bought her and she was trapped in a house that was never cleaned(most people would have gone crazy) with Tatiana a.k.a. THE MOST CRAZY PERSON EVER. 

2. JESSE(and his death)

Then Jesse here is her “brother” in every way except blood since she can remember (she can’t even remember her real parents so that is even worse for her), is nice to her and secretly teaches her to fight and then later just comes along and dies. She follows along with whetever Tatiana tells her to do because she thinks it will bring THE ONLY PERSON SHE CAN REMEMBER WHO WAS NICE TO HER back to life. Even Lucie wants to bring Jesse back to life(he is that loveable).

3. THE LACK OF EMOTIONS IS NOT HER FAULT

Along the way, Tatiana turns her into her emotionless weapon so Tatiana get back at the Herondale(and all Shadowhunters). So the lack of emotions is not her fault it is Tatiana’s.

4. TATIANA’S WELL DONE MANIPULATION

Grace sees Tatiana as the only mother she ever had so obviously she would like to please her, but she was also slapped by Tatiana many times so it’s a weird relationship. 

5. SHE DOESN”T WANT TO DO THIS

When James comes along, she low-key doesn’t want to do this, but she is pretty much is controlled by Tatiana because she wants Jesse brought back to life and she is afraid of Tatiana. So she has to do it. 

6. SHE IS AFRAID

She takes off the bracelet(gracelet) when her mother is “ill” because she isn’t there to control her, that just proves that it isn’t Grace that wants to do this it is Grace’s fear of her mother and her desire to bring Jesse back to life, plus she probubly thinks Belial can do anything because come on he can make Grace able to contol men and makes the Loyaly Binds Me bracelet(what can’t he do? Come down to Earth, but Grace doesn’t know that) like anyone with common sense would be afraid of him. EVEN THE MERRY THEIVES, CORDELIA, AND LUCIE ARE AFRAID OF HIM(with good reason). She is scared enough to use a power that she doesn’t like and try to escape Tatiana.

Therefore, yes Grace made a lot of bad choices but she is reedemable, just as Alastair made a few bad choices in the Academy but is still very much reedemable. Grace is simply misunderstood by the fandom. If you got this far down then thank you for being open-minded enough to read this.

so i honestly rolled my eyes bc i initally though it was james but then i read this comment and now im having second thoughts...

why would james tell ANYONE he kissed grace? the merry thieves would be on his back if they found out he was being disloyal to cordelia even if their engagment isnt real. Cassie said several times the family tree is inaccurate but just HOW EXACTLY inaccurate is it??? if grace and chris do end up together thats gonna be cliché ngl. A cold hearted, distant, pretty girl with a dorky nerd? Unless grace is the total opposite under the exterior shes portraying (bc of tatiana) maybe shes actually really kind, generous and soft?? hmmm

Some Random Theories (THE LAST HOURS) -Chain Of Gold -Chain Of Iron

SHARE YOUR THEORIES BELOW, AS WELL!

I believe that Grace is actually not “evil” as a lot of us think.She is somehow bound to the Blackthorns-maybe a debt(?)-and she cares deeply for Jesse.We do not know why, but she just does and we knew about that in Chain Of Gold. So, we know that The Bracelet has a dark charm on it which is what makes James see the demonic realm, even when he doesn’t want to.There is also some kind of love spell put on him-also, possibly, part of The Bracelet-which replenishes whenever he sees Grace or touches her.He knows that he loves her in the moment. But, later, when he is away from her, even then he believed he loved her-because he DID love her (under a spell) but he does not actually feel the love for her when he is away from her.He just remembers the love and thinks he loves her even then.Grace also seems to care for James truly, as a friend.Which isn’t fair,I’ll admit, since she is still wrecking his life in the long run.But, remember when she tells him, after his scalding fever, that he was in love with Cordelia?She was trying to encourage his love for Cordelia.She knew she couldn’t break her promises or oath or whatever it is that binds her to Tatiana, so she tries to help with those words.She puts up that trickster front for Tatiana. And, when Tatiana was attacked by those demons,Grace tried to make him realise that what he felt wasn’t true love, and got him to return The Bracelet. And, later, when Lucie breaks into their mansion, the demon tells Grace , “Some enchantments aren’t yours to break” and it threatens to kill Jesse, and of course Lucie jumps with valour and saves them. But, later, when Tatiana recovers, she comes back around to give James the Bracelet, again.Cordelia and Cortana seem to be the Light in his darkness.The two seem to be the only ones to break through the darkness of the Demon Realm.Speaking of Cortana, the synopsis for Chain Of Iron says that Cortana burns Cordelia when she touches it.That really had me shook ,not gonna lie.Then,I remembered she’d stabbed Belial with Cortana. Cortana is a sword of MERCY.  Perhaps, she had another way to escape the realm, but she gave way to her anger.It was righteous, but maybe not very merciful. But, really though, when I read that part in the synopsis, it made me vaguely emotional, since Cordelia is attached to Cortana like it’s her pet puppy, which is just sweet.Also, we’re going to be looking at Lucie and her plans to bring back Jesse. I can’t wait to find out more about how it’s going to happen. It’s an exciting factor in the series. And, there’s James. I believe that he’s the one who opens up the demon realm, letting out these demons-involuntarily, of course. He’s always been able to see the demon realm, which is quite unnatural, and maybe that’s why the demons can easily survive in the human realm. He’s been living with the Dark, and the demons maybe have gotten accustomed to the Light(????). And, last-but not least-I feel like Elias Carstairs is going to stir up some trouble in Chain Of Iron. There’s something odd going on between him and Sona Carstairs. And I also think Alastair is going to possibly respond rather fiercely(not necessarily Loudly, but he is going to be upset).

P.S.I can’t wait to GET MY FAIRSTAIRS ONNNNNN. LIKE, BRUHHHH THEY ARE SO CUTE.EVEN IF THEY MIGHT NOT END UP TOGETHER,THEY’D MAKE SUCH ADORABLE BEST FRIENDS I JUST KNOW ITTT AHHHHHHHH
