Foundation Mido Hamada as Shadowmaster Obrecht "How are problems generally solved in this situation?" "Any manner that achieves its goal."
moodboard: imperial aides in season finales realising 1) shit is unimaginably fucked 2) it's their problem now
one cool detail I do want to point out about this ep: imo, dusk's Magical Kill Anything Device bears a striking resemblance to this thing we saw obrecht wield to kill orlio, way back in 1.01:
with very similar, ridiculously OTT effects:
granted, it does seem more overpowered in season 3, and its sudden ability to control the ascension beam is another step entirely - but dusk literally has been hanging around a mad weapons scientist all season, so I'm kind of willing to give a pass on this one
plus, the fact that the very first thing we ever saw a cleon do in this show - have a guy abruptly exploded to death for revenge and fun - is ultimately how the cleons themselves end? makes me a little bit insane gonna be honest
literally just realised that obrecht is always placed behind XII's right shoulder when he's enabling him, but is at at XIII and XIV's left when he's ruining their day. XII's right hand man ONLY. is this anything.

The sky should have been violent red and purple and gold, Day thought wildly, it should have been bruised and weeping; only violent majesty would be appropriate as the sun set on their fractured dynasty.
As the reincarnated Brother Dawn awakes, Empire face shifting loyalties and an uncertain future.

it's over... it's done... my ten-chapter quest to wrap up the Empire storyline of Foundation season one is complete!! (and just in time for season two...)
I'm extremely proud of this fic and just adore where it ended up, I've never completed a story of this length before. thank you so, so much to everyone who left comments and screamed at me about this story along the way! it's a cliche but it really kept me fed as a writer 💕💕
moodboard for when it's your day off from assisting empire and you're trying your best to chill out but you just know some insane shit is going down at the palace that's going to become your problem the moment you clock in again

hiii! I’m in the home stretch of writing my latest overly ambitious foundation tv fic so I figure it's time to share it on here!
tl;dr: the way season one dropped a massive plot twist in the final 20 minutes and then wrapped up absolutely nothing bothered me, and season two is still nowhere in sight, so I wanted to write a piece exploring the immediate aftermath of that revelation. maybe the current imperial trio can even find some semblance of reconciliation and growth amidst the chaos... unless...?
