Jonathan doesn’t move to greet him. “What has happened to you,” he says instead, helpless. Simon’s eyes gentle and he steps forward, reaching for Jonathan, and Jonathan cannot do anything but reach back. “What Lilith said was best,” Simon answers quietly. “What would keep me at your side.” Jonathan flinches, but Simon’s fingers are tight and firm around his. “I didn’t ask for this,” the blonde whispers desperately. Simon leans up, kisses his forehead. “I did,” he breathes against Jonathan’s hairline, and Jonathan shudders.
