“What if Toby got possessed by Morgana instead of Claire?” Interesting query! Let’s dive in ☝️🤓

So when I first thought of this, I was concentrating on the huge portal scene. I had always found it interesting that even after everyone joined in to help make the portal, Claire was the only one who experienced corruption. So my idea would have been that the shadow magic had transferred to Toby and because he’s more emotionally vulnerable Morgana would have went after him instead.

However, I came to realize that if I was using that logic, it would make more sense for JIM to experience corruption since he grabbed onto the shadow staff to help first. And that would have been very confusing.

So new idea! From the creators of Shadowstaff Mary, comes Shadowstaff Toby 😻

So in this AU, when Angor Rot goes off with the killstone, Toby jumps into the portal to follow him instead of Claire because he wants to make up for being a rat the entire episode (this is referring to “The Shattered King”). Toby takes the shadow staff and decides it’s high time for him to get a cool weapon too, so he keeps it.

Claire would probably find another weapon on that weapon wall in the Hero’s Forge (I can’t see her using a warhammer). Maybe a spear or something?
