Shae Weekend 2022 Day 4: Happy Birthday Shae! 🌱

Seeing as I didn't finish the fic I was going to post today, I instead decided to share my Shae playlist! (My shae-list)

I love you Shae! Happy birthday!

I'll paste a tracklist and a bit of what I was thinking when I added each song under the cut :)

Track 1: Country Life - The Watersons

It's just the strongest Shae vibes, both the lyrics and the folk-y sound

Track 2: Candy - Paolo Nutini

This one is less about the lyrics and more about the vibe of the music

Track 3: The Bones - Marren Morris ft. Hozier

When there ain't a crack in the foundation Baby, I know any storm we're facing Will blow right over while we stay put The house don't fall when the bones are good

The core of an MC x Shae relationship is pure, strong love. They don't need anything more than your love, and other problems that you might face together are small potatoes, because you are strong and united and can face anything together. You can rely on each other.

Track 4: Bloom - The Paper Kites

The vibe of the music is incredibly soft and sweet. Some of the lyrics are about the singer's confusion on how to articulate their love. Additionally, there's plenty of nature metaphors - cottagecore Shae :)

Track 5: Sweet Tooth - Cavetown

Guess I must be satisfactory You said you love me exactly the way I am And you know I find it hard to understand

Shae is someone who needs to be taken as they are, reassured and cherished for who and what they are. Plus Shae is sweet and has a sweet tooth - what could be better?

Track 6: I.F.L.Y. - Bazzi

I.F.L.Y. = I fucking love you, aka my feelings for Shae

Track 7: Nervous - The Neighbourhood

I feel like this reflects Shae being confused or unsure about how to show their feelings. They don't have much relationship experience, and they're a bit confused about what to do with their feelings

Track 8: Toothpaste Kisses - The Maccabees

Again, the vibe of the music is so strong. Additionally, I think that MC and Shae are the type to get very domestic really quickly, so brushing their teeth and then sharing 'toothpaste kisses' feels very appropriate

Track 9: Heartbeats - Jose Gonzalez

This is all vibes babey

Track 10: Featherstone - The Paper Kites

The Paper Kites are very Shae / Cottagecore vibes. This one I'm going with it is just musical vibes, because this song is about being in love with someone who doesn't love you back and I simply refuse to admit of that being a possibility for the lovely Shae.

Track 11: Put Your Records On - Corinne Bailey Rae

Blue as the sky, sunburnt and lonely Sipping tea in a bar by the road side (Just relax, just relax) Don't you let those other boys fool you Gotta love that Afro hairdo

Again, this song has a lovely and soft feeling, which sounds like how I imagine being loved by Shae feels. It captures the vibe of a strong but low-key love, punctuated by daily gestures of love (making two cups of tea instead of one, saving your carrots for your partner because you know they love them, staying up to make your SO's lunch for them) rather than needing dramatic big gestures

Track 12: I Don't Know - Lisa Hannigan

If you walk my way I will keep my head we will feel our way Through the dark Though I don't know you I think that I would do I don't fall easy at all

slow but sure descent into love

Track 13: Love You for a Long Time - Maggie Rogers

Anyone who falls in love with Shae will stay in love with Shae

Track 15: Banana Pancakes - Jack Johnson

Are you noticing a theme? It's about how everything you need is right there. Plus Shae making MC pancakes in the morning - it's just another way they show their love.
