What's this game all about, you ask? Well...

You play as a humble Irish farmer that gets swept into the Otherworld and quickly entangled in its politics, i.e. the aftermath of a civil war that split the land of Tír na nÓg into the Seelie and Unseelie Courts

There are two routes fully out right now: Shae's route (Book of the Soldier, Vol. 2) and Maeve's route (Book of the Warrior, Vol. 3).

Both routes are over 70k words long, with good and bad endings depending on your choices

You can choose to romance the characters, or keep things strictly platonic

💚 Shae's route will have you embarking on a quest to help a soldier find the Seelie's long lost princess and true heir to the throne. She was presumed killed by the rebellious Unseelie...but was she?

🩵 Maeve's route has you hunting for a murderer, but matters quickly go awry as you start to uncover other fateful secrets... All revolving around Maeve and the Morrígan, Goddess of War.

First impressions.

It is a good thing that I don't have lessons right now, because I would have a hard time explaining the new accent I have developed.

I have originally heard about this game through one of the voice actors, but was terrified of the Fair Folk not that interested in the story at the time. Still, getting to hear and learn a bit of Gaelic is not something I would pass up.

I really appreciate food and eating becoming a language of its own over the course of the game; I hope never to know what a famine is like, but many of the interactions were either relatable or just very telling. Other interesting details that stood out were a language spreading like a disease and there not being anything outside the island/beyond the water.

Morse's system of telegraphing was already used in '44, I checked!

A shapeshifter (gender: ':P' pronouns: ';)') known everywhere but never clearly allied with any sides? A nuisance and a delight at the very same time? Demands a place at the table? Starts a fight over dinner? Never makes a mess they 'cannot clean up'?
