SHANTELLE DRESS by Sifix
D O W N L O A D
spooky umie
He was waiting for them in the diner, sparsely populated so early in the morning. Corbin was fairly certain most of the people scattered around the booths yawning over coffee cups and plates of eggs and bacon were rebels, though there was a trucker seated on a stool at the counter, all attention focused on his breakfast.
The door opened and Corbin turned towards the sound, spotting Shantelle, accompanied by a built blond in a plain button down and slacks that could only be Jett. He stood, offering them a warm smile. The brunette beamed back. “Jett,” he said, holding a hand out to the man when the pair stopped in front of him.
“My name is Corbin. Welcome.”
The building was quiet; the only person Remi saw on his way up was the door man, holding it open for them as they passed and greeting him with a polite sir. They rode the elevator up in silence, then walked down the hallway to Shani’s door, the lights above them dimmed for the night. Colie lifted her face from where it’d been buried in his shoulder. “Is Mommy with the people you were talking to Uncle Corbin about at Uncle Silas’s work?” “Yes,” Remi replied honestly, but he couldn’t bring himself to say anything else. He’d already promised her in the car that he would get Charlie back.
Normally, he’d ask Colie if she’d like to ring the doorbell, as she enjoyed the blue ring of light that lit up around the button when it was pressed, but she was holding on to him so tightly, and he didn’t want to put her down just yet. He rang the bell himself, once, twice. Then, after a couple of minutes, he heard movement on the other side of the door, and it opened. Shani was wearing a silk nightgown, a knee-length robe over it of the same fabric, tied around the waist. Her long, dark hair was piled on top of her head in a messy bun.
“I need a favor.” He spoke before she could, but it was clear from her worried expression that she knew something was wrong. Of course she’d know – he was there, with Colie, in the middle of the fucking night.
My sister, upon learning that people like her character: [INHUMAN SHRIEKING]
The soft chime of the doorbell ringing sounded once. Twice. A blue LED light shone briefly behind the button both times he pressed it, but there was no sound from inside. No footsteps coming towards him. After a couple of minutes, Corbin tried the door. Unlocked. He entered the apartment and closed it behind him, walking towards the living room, looking around.
“Shani?” He called, heading for the kitchen now. It was 3:06, about five minutes past when he’d told her he’d arrive, but she was nowhere to be seen. Then, there was a muffled rustling sound somewhere ahead, and the sound of another door opening. “Shani?” Corbin repeated, stopping where he was. “I’m sorry, I let myself in.”
Ok so I have to leave in 2 hours for a vacation and I still need to pack EVERYTHING but I really wanted to put this out for a friend.
The characters are from this lovely webcomic that you should totally check out right now.
