Lu Shaotang Christmas headcanons

A/n: I'm not entirely sure where this idea came from, I just didn't want things to get boring by only writing for the same couple fandoms over the holidays. I hope you all enjoy!

-Apart from your birthday, Christmas is the only time period where Lu actually puts in an effort at work. This is because she wants to make sure she has enough money toget you a present that properly shows how much she loves you, rather than just buying you something from a bargain bin or whatever's leftover at the store. She's also not above sucking up to Mr. Sakamoto for a big Christmas bonus, even if it rarely works.

-She always has Shin nearby when she asks you what you want for Christmas, either having him hide somewhere or pretending to be distracted by work if she asks you at the store. This is so that, even if you insist you don't want anything or try to keep it a secret, he can use his mind-reading powers to tell her what you really want after you've left. He always refuses to tell her what you got her, though, no matter how hard she whines or begs. He might be a hitman, but he isn't a snitch.

-For Christmas, Taro usually invites you and Lu over to the store for a Christmas party, which she actually cleans up nicely for. She wears the blue dress she wore in the casino arc along with some matching eyeliner. She may dress casually most of the time, but she knows how to put in an effort when it counts.

-At the party itself, Lu is the type to head straight for the booze. While she's able to limit herself before dinner, once she's finished eating, she turns into a drunken mess. Slurring her words during karoake, laughing at the smallest things or even nothing at all, and clinging to you like a koala, insisting that you have to kiss her because you're stood under the mistletoe. If you point out that the only mistletoe is halfway across the room from you, she gives you a pout and puppy dog eyes that are usually cute enough for you to kiss her anyway.

-Lu's preferred Christmas movies are light-hearted comedies like Elf and Jingle All the Way. This is both because those kinds of films have simple enough plots for her to follow even when she's intoxicated, and because if she watches something even a little emotional in her durnken state, she usually ends up sobbing like a baby and you have to hold her for hours to comfort her.

-For presents, she usually puts in the least amount of effort for Shin, claiming she didn't know what to get him even if he tells her directly, which makes him question why he helps her every year. Next on the list is Heisuke, she claims she didn't have much money to buy him a present, since she also bought some food for Piisuke, but he seems more than happy with the pork buns she gives him.

-Aside from you, Lu puts in the most effort into her gift-giving to the Sakamotos, because she wants to make little Hana happy and because she worries he might fire her if she gets them a bad gift, no matter how much you tell her he would never do that. She buys a bunny plushie for Hana and a bouquet of flowers for Aoi. She doesn't really know what kind of things Taro likes, since he doesn't talk much, and usually gets him some food or something food-related. He doesn't mind, though, since seeing his fmaily so happy with their gifts or more than enough for him.

-As for you, she puts in the most effort, and actually gets you two presents. As well as what Shin told her you wanted, she also gets you a jacket that matches hers in your favourite colour. She presents it to you proudly, stating that since you always compliment her on hers, now you can look as cute as her. She also asks you repeatedly to put it on so that she can see how it looks on you, and expects you to wear it every time the two of you go out together.

-After the gift giving is done, Lu usually falls asleep shortly after, with you having to carry her back to your place or Heisuke helping you carry her on your shoulders. When you make it back home, you collapse onto the couch, with Lu taking the opportunity to cuddle into you, As she nuzzles into you, she gets all giddy as she gushes about how much she loves you and wants to spend the rest of her life with you...shortly before whining about how much money she had to spend on gifts for everyone. She soon falls asleep in your arms in a drunken stupor, as you stroke her back and kiss her head, promising to spend the rest of your life with her as well.

Shao Fei smiles, and Tang Yi resists the urge to snarl because he wasn’t smiling at him. And that was not acceptable.

The girl - that same girl he’d seen dancing with Shao Fei in fucking couple shirts in Andy’s club - was casting him sly looks from the corner of her eye. As if trying to say, look, see? I’m a threat to you. I’ll do my best to change his mind about you.

And Shao Fei, the absolute oblivious idiot he is, is nodding along and agreeing with what every drivel she is spouting into his ridiculously shaped ears. 

Tang Yi hates it.

(Not the ears. He loves the ears)

He purses his lips, narrowing his gaze at where the two are huddled together. He’s forgotten why he was even needed in this meeting in the first place. Fuck it, Tang Yi decides. He’s not going to sit here and watch a brat try to flirt with his boyfriend when he has better things to do. Draining his tea, he stands, straightening his jacket and making to leave.

“You’re leaving?” Shao Fei says, wide-eyed and curious. 

“I know when I am not needed,” He replies. Shao Fei blinks, frowning. Tang Yi buttons his jacket. He wants to say something like, I’ll see you at home, or at least, I’ll see you later. Just so that he can hear Shao Fei say, I’ll see you too. 

Instead, what he gets is his brilliant, his wonderfully darling boyfriend closes the distance between them in long limbed strides, and reaches up to cradle Tang Yi by the cheeks, tugging him down for a heated, possessively dark kiss. 

Shao Fei licks in past his lips, and Tang Yi lets him. Licking in, swallowing down the happy hum that promises trouble if they don’t part soon. So they do. He catches the amused glint in Shao Fei’s eyes, and Tang Yi smiles. 

“We’re done here, right?” Shao Fei arches back to address the girl. Tang Yi’s buoyant mood sours a little when he remembers that she is still here.

“Yes,” She grits out reluctantly. Shao Fei wraps an arm around Tang Yi’s waist and he reciprocates with his own around Shao Fei’s. He can’t help the smug and triumphant grin that blooms on his face. 

He tilts his chin, levelling his most contemptuous glare at her as they walk out of the room in step with each other. See? He says with his glee. You can try, but you won’t succeed.

(Shao Fei passes a box of Krispy Kreme’s to Zhao Zi, smirking at Jack’s bewildered shake of his head. “Thanks for the assist,” Shao Fei says. “It worked like a charm.”

“If the boss finds out that you essentially engineered his jealousy–”

“He’s not going to hear it from me,” Shao Fei narrows his eyes.

“Nor me,” Jack holds his hands up. Simultaneously, they both look over at Zhao Zi, before meeting each other’s gaze in understanding.)

His phone pings with an incoming message, but Tang Yi ignores it. 

He is delivering his closing remarks to his subordinates when his phone pings in quick-fire succession. “Excuse me,” Tang Yi says, sliding his finger over the screen without looking at the notification tile, typing in his password. 

The picture loads, and he feels his breath rattle in his chest. Shao Fei’s lying on their bed - for it is theirs, and Tang Yi refuses to remember a time when it was just his alone, body curled around Tang Yi’s pillow like a koala. This close, the camera picks up the hint of a blush on his cheeks, and he is wearing nothing but the finger shaped bruises on his hips and a heated half lidded gaze. And then there, looking closer still, is the barest hint of his ass in the corner of the frame. 

Tang Yi sits up in his chair. Scrolling down, he has to suppress the bark of laughter that sits on the tip of his tongue.

He catches the looks that they cast his way, and he has to clear his throat. His people are too well-trained to say anything about any trick of light that may have made them see a hint of a smile on his face. 

“That will be all for today,” He stands. As he walks, he pulls up his call list and dials Shao Fei’s number. It takes but a moment, and the call connects. Before he can get a word in edgewise, he is treated to a breathless barrage of apologies and a frantic litany of how he had accidentally sent it to him because his phone slipped.

“But it was meant for me, wasn’t it? You took that photo for me?” Tang Yi interrupts, eyeing Jack who has a look of unholy glee about his person. He narrows his eyes and gestures for him to call for the elevator. 

“Yes,” Shao Fei says, the petulant pout clear even through the receiver.

“Then it was meant for me,” Tang Yi says. He ducks his head, tucking his free hand into his pocket, saying softer still, “Are you still there? Are you home?”

“Yes?” 

Tang Yi lets the unrestrained smile stretch his lips. “Are you still naked?”

A pause preludes the unmistakeable sounds of undressing, before Shao Fei breathlessly yelps, “Yes!”

“Stay there. I’ll be home soon,” He promises, just at the elevator doors open for him.

“I’ll be waiting,” Shao Fei replies, the words warm and true. When he ends the call, Jack is unsubtly looking intently at his shoes as if they could somehow solve the mysteries of the universe.

“Give me the keys. I’ll drive myself home,” Tang Yi says. “And go kidnap your policeman and make sure none of their lot disturbs me for the rest of the afternoon.”

Jack’s head snaps up. Eyes wide as if he was not expecting that. “Yes, boss! Thank you boss!” Tang Yi shakes his head, wondering with no small amount of amusement if life was ever going to stop being interesting around these people. He truly hopes not.

Tang Yi wakes with an aborted shout. It takes him a moment to come back to himself; slowly watching the shadows on the ceiling, the way the house expands and creaks in the night. Turning his head, he finds himself brushing up against the dark mop of hair that tufts up from under the covers. He feels his heart kicking up in his chest. 

Tang Yi rolls over onto his side. Reaching over to slide a hand over Shao Fei’s shoulders, burrowing himself closer. He nuzzles his nose to the base of Shao Fei’s skull, breathing in the smell of their shampoo and letting the way the chest under his hand rises and fall in sleep. 

He closes his eyes. The nightmare is fuzzy round the edges, but still sharp and bitter on his tongue. Tang Yi bites the inside of his cheek. He holds onto to Shao Fei just that little tighter.

“Tang Yi?” 

“Go back to sleep,” He whispers, hiding his face in the back of Shao Fei’s hair, but his reprieve is momentarily because he turns in his arms, blinking the sleep rapidly out of his eyes.

“What’s wrong?” Shao Fei asks.

“Just a dream. That’s all,” Tang Yi tries for a reassuring smile. He can tell that it doesn’t quite work, because Shao Fei leans in, brushing his lips to Tang Yi’s.

He sighs, tensing for a moment, before leaning in too. His hands gently hold Shao Fei in place, slowly pressing the words of overwhelming knee weakening love and humbling gratefulness that he has yet have the words to say. He kisses him, drawing all the happy little noises from Shao Fei. 

“Thank you,” Tang Yi whispers into the space between them. Thank you for being here, for choosing me. I cannot think of a world where I could’ve lived in happiness without you, he doesn’t say. Carding his fingers through Shao Fei’s hair, he thinks the smile on his lips is an answer enough.

Hong Ye eyes up Meng Shao Fei as he stands to leave the breakfast table, half tempted to say something snide, but holding her tongue when Tang Yi turns to him, head tilted up for kiss that Meng Shao Fei delivers with a happy little smile.

It's not the first kiss she's been party to, and she's sure it won't be the last. Hong Ye knows that despite her reservations about the man, he's here to stay.

Tang Yi reaches over to slide his fingers through Meng Shao Fei's hair, cradling gently as if he isn't quite sure this wasn't just a dream. The other man isn't any better; nuzzling nose to nose, diving back in for another kiss that is slow and open mouthed and heartedly sweet.

"I'll see you later," Meng Shao Fei breathes, lingering long enough for Tang Yi to steal one last press of their lips.

Tang Yi meets her eyes across the table, and at a quirk of an immaculate eyebrow, he flushes, quickly hiding in a long sip of his coffee. "Not a word," He mumbles.

Hong Ye huffs. She might not like the cop very much, but if these are the type of emotions he draws out of Tang Yi, she reckons he mustn't be all that bad.

Can you do shao fei and tang yi fluff? Like in the morning or something soft like that.

The glow of the morning light plays over the ridges of Shao Fei’s face. He inhales, letting himself settle into the moment. He lies on his side, memorising the way that Shao Fei looks in the morning, and Tang Yi likes to think that he has earned the right to live in these pockets of time.

“Stop it.”

Tang Yi shuffles closer, touching Shao Fei’s waist. “No,” He says, kissing him on the nose. He feels him shift, and Tang Yi holds him tight. 

“Tang Yi…”

He huffs, kissing him slow, toes curling. “Morning,” Tang Yi mouths, smiling when he tastes Shao Fei’s sigh.

“I was hoping we’d get to sleep in,” Shao Fei pouts, brushing their lips together.

“We still could?”

“Too late,” Shao Fei mutters, nose wrinkling adorably. Tang Yi chuckles, hugging him.

“Let’s just try?” He runs his fingers through the hairs on the back of Shao Fei’s head, scratching his scalp in the way that makes him melt in his arms.

Tang Yi rolls himself half on top of Shao Fei, blanketing him. Kissing him again, he nuzzles him, slotting their bodies together. “Okay,” Shao Fei slurs sleepily.

“Okay,” Tang Yi says, closing his eyes.
