Psychologists reaction (the fan heart in me also jumped in joy when the filmmaker praised Miyu's voice acting 😁)

Someone said that this movie is a love story, though it's not about a romantic love story, but a story about learning to love yourself. And I couldn't agree more! It was kind of annoying to see people complaining about the movie not having scenes of a kiss or confession from the ML. They totally miss the point of the movie imo. There's not only one kind of love, and the romantic one is not the only one that is meaningful or significant. We can love in lots of different ways. All kinds of love should be treasured, as long as it doesn't impose on or hurt other people. And you can't love nor have a healthy attitude to relationships of affection without first appreciating yourself.

Btw, Makoto Shinkai-sensei said that the crying scene at the end particularly moved him deeply (and yes, he didn't miss to praise Miyu's voice acting and point out that it made the scene even more impactful 😊), and that it was the inspiration for the crying scene in Tenki no Ko.
