She really, truly should reconsider. Surely she was smart enough that she could think of plenty of reasons why such an irresponsible and foolhardy action was not recommended in any way.

And all the same, the princess of Askr sat across from her and continued speaking to their newest recruit, all while Mitama (degenerate that she was), found that she could think of little more than how experienced the princess might be at kissing.

She cannot remember the root of the thought. It could have come from anywhere, really, and it did not matter. It all connected back to the same, polarizing idea in the end. That Mitama had thought about kissing the princess, which lead to wondering if the princess even knew how, which lead even more to Mitama thinking on it and an endless, self-indulgent cycle was where the shrine maiden now found herself.

(She had not heard a word the princess had said to her. She really needed to break that habit.)

The wooden end of Mitama's brush tapped against the table as Mitama sat quietly and pretended to listen. Sharena did not seem to notice, not with the way her mouth continued to delicately form the words she spoke under Mitama's focused gaze and really, there was not knowing and then there was knowingly teasing...

Sharena falls silent as Mitama stands and makes her way around the table between them. She tilts the princess' head upwards to make it easier for herself as she leans down and kisses her. It is not anything special. She cannot even tell if it is good, not with the way Sharena goes tense with surprise and does not move.

But it is enough to satisfy the nagging itch in Mitama's mind, and so she steps back and returns to her seat with a smile. When she sits again, the other is still silent, and so Mitama gestures for her to go on. "Pardon the interruption. Please, continue."

Mitama does not understand anything of Askr. She does not understand the titles of Heroes ("King Garon is right there, surely you do not mean to impress upon me that a shell of a man is a hero."), there are faces familiar and new in the most...bizarre of outfits ("No, we do celebrate the Day of Devotion, however...I think I might have happily gone my whole life without seeing Lord Xander in that."), and a myriad of battles with unspoken rules that Mitama has no real idea just how she is meant to follow them (why is there music? Why do the enemies approach in lines of four? What do you mean we are fighting for a hotspring?).

All in all, her abrupt adventure into Askr is...certainly an adventure. By the end of the day, she is drained and barely able to pay any mind to what it is that Princess Sharena chirps on about. She should feel guilty; the other is going out of their way to escort Mitama to what will essentially be her room for...however long she is here. But exhaustion leaves a heavy muffled cover over her head that she simply cannot hear through.

The princess comes to a sudden stop in front of a door and turns to Mitama with a bright smile. Still, her words are lost to the shrine maiden. This was her room to be, clearly, and with sleep so close, so tangibly in reach, Mitama finds she can spare mind for little else.

"...and so I was wondering if we might be friends?"

The question that breaks through the fog of sleep is jarring, in its own subtle way. Mitama hesitates, her gaze flicking back uncertainly. No sits immediately on her tongue. No, because she has friends, a precious group, and she sees no reason to add beyond that. No, because she does not know her, does not know what she thinks, what she feels, what trust can Mitama possibly put in her with so many unknowns?

The princess' eyes are fragile, trembling things. Her smile is as well. Despite the size of it, despite the reach of it, it falters slightly as though ready to crumble away at first indication.

No sits immediately on her tongue. Mitama swallows it and nods. "Very well, if you-"

Arms close around Mitama and she is lifted off the ground even as she squeaks and stiffens. The hug tightens in a vice grip and she splutters and protests uselessly until her feet return to the ground. Sharena's smile is stronger now, and Mitama misses still whatever it is she says before she vanishes with a wave.

Mitama stands in the hallways. She is...so uncertain of all of Askr. But she supposes for its oddities, there are things about it to make it worth staying.

'Tis the Season | Mistletoe Meme

Being from a merchant family, Ignatz never had time to celebrate the holidays. This was the busiest time of year for them and normally Ignatz would be helping his family keep up with the high demand. The calm of the party felt... nice. A bit overwhelming but he much rather be here than helping his family.

As the night went on he noticed students pair off using mistletoe, seemingly a common tradition. Ignatz however didn’t watch where he was standing and unknowingly ended under the mistletoe.

He glanced up casually, his brain taking a second to realize the position he was in. Once the gears finally started turning in his head he shot a worried look at the girl next to him. Sharena, was it? He turned as red as a tomato as he quickly pecked her cheek wordlessly.

“Sorry,” he muttered to himself, trying his hardest to avoid eye contact.

cute to meet you

"Oh!" Charlotte snaps into the usual delicate routine as the compliment registers. Her hand rests against her chest and she looks every bit the sweet, demure maiden she plays as she eyes the girl who's come up to her.

She doesn't recognize this one. Doesn't have a good assessment on whether or not she needs to be on her best behavior. Getting approached was new. Well, not new, but usually it was under different circumstances by different people and sometimes she had to break some hands that wandered too boldly and anyways that didn't matter right now.

"Thank you!" Charlotte giggled and blushed. "You're so sweet to think of me like that...especially when you're so cute yourself!"

Oh, this student she hasn't met! Sharena does a skip, a jump, and lands lightly in front of her, her hands clasped together with a quill in between her fingers. "Hello, I'm Sharena, and I'm /delighted/ to meet you! What's your name? Ooh, wait." She holds up the quill and extends her arm, forearm skyward. "Sign it on my arm, please! Oh, and later, I am totally gonna hold an awesome party with lots of delicious food, and I'd love to have you there!"

Bernie flinches back as someone suddenly appears in front of her. What? Who? She blinks a few times, but the answer doesn’t become any clearer as she manages to reign in her usual bubbling panic.

“Oh, I’m Be-, wait what?” She blinks in confusion as the other woman holds out her arm to Bernie and practically shoves the quill into her face. Sign? Her arm? Oh, this must be more of that game Bernie heard about. She really didn’t understand the point of the game, but it was just signatures, right? At least it was harmless and no one had come running after her with pegasus or yelling things that really didn’t make any sense. 

Bernadetta took the quill and did her best to write her name on the other’s arm as neatly as she could. “A party? Oh, I dunno, I’m not really good with, um...loud noises and lots of people. N-not that I think your party will be bad or anything! I’m sure it’ll be a great time for everyone I bet!”

Would saying she would go make her classmate feel better? Bernie wasn’t really interested in spending time with a bunch of people she didn’t know... “I’ll, uh...I can maybe try to come if you really want me to?”
