The perfect excuse
One fine autumn day, I was waiting at a traffic light on a concrete boulevard, when a conversation between a mother and daughter next to me crossed my ears: "Mum, why do they even charge for paper bags?”
“Yes, we have to pay for them because plastic is harmful. Quite right, young brains are flexible”,I thought.
Oops, the excuse is COVID 19…When everything is excused in the name of COVID 19, there are no words to say next.
It reminded me of the time when IT network communication was just becoming a central part of business and the excuse for customer service was all "system error". They didn't know what they were talking about, but as long as they got those 2 words out, all was well.
Even if you bite the bullet, you won't get a free paper bag.
But just having a question will help you keep your own brain healthy.
And so time goes on.
うってつけの言い訳
とある清々しい秋晴れの日、コンクリートの大通りで信号待ちをしていたとき、隣の母娘の会話が耳を横切った：「ママ、どうして紙袋まで有料なの？」
そうだ、プラスティックが有害だから有料になったんだ。流石、若い脳は柔軟だよな、と思った。
あっ、言い訳はコロナね…何もかもコロナ名義で言い訳されると、次に出る言葉は皆無。
そう言えば、ITネットワークコミュニケーションがビジネスの中心になったばかりの頃のカスタマーサービスの言い訳が全て「システムエラー」だったな、と思い出した。言ってる方も分かっていないけど、この文字さえだしとけば、万事休す。
喰いついても、無料で紙袋がもらえるわけではありません。でも、疑問を持つだけでも自分の脳を健康に保つことができます。
そうして時は過ぎていきます。
