Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💖
Thank you to both you and @sharkneto who sent me this! Favourite five fics, you say? Kind of ironic seeing as all my fics are Five centric 😂 I've definitely come a long way since I first started writing, so some of these will have abysmal grammar and spelling, so apologies about that! I really should go back through them and sort those issues out.
Also, all of these were written before the news about Viktor! I've yet to change anything as I'm waiting to see how everything is handled in the show!
Youth After Five is attacked by the Sparrow Academy version of their dead brother, the Hargreeves are left no choice but to hide in the safety of a motel on the other side of the city. There, they learn some horrifying details of Five's past, and think about how different their lives could have been if they'd never been adopted by Reginald.
The Clockmaker's Son If they're going to make it across the border, they're going to need a miracle. Klaus knows this, and undertakes a risky manoeuvre to fix the damage to their airship sustained in the attack. And while successful, he pays the price, falling to what should have been his death on the outskirts of the city. Instead he wakes up eleven days later with a broken arm, in a strange farmhouse occupied by an equally strange child named Five and his eternally cheery mother, both of which people having secrets to keep.
Last Will and Testament The final moments of the Hargreeves, before their meeting with Death.
A Break in the Clouds The one in which Claire comes to visit and Five realises that he's not as bad with children as he initially thought.
Mass Destruction Five really wasn’t okay, and if he was being perfectly honest, he hadn’t been okay for quite some time. He finds this out the hard way when he collapses in a motel room while on the run from the Sparrow Academy, but thankfully his siblings are there to pick up the pieces.
17 and 23 for the fic ask game!
17: What has been the proudest moment for you so far since you started writing?
Proudest moment... There's been a few moments where I've been proud of myself to be honest, but I guess two are coming to mind. Finishing my first fic Quake was a rush - I wrote it very much on impulse, by the seat of my pants and with no idea what I was doing, with only a prompt to guide me to something resembling a plot. It took me just over two weeks (I've slowed down a lot since then!) But the satisfaction of completing something and knowing I could do it, and see it through to the end, was amazing.
And I guess the second is sort of similar - this week my draft for the main story of Time Traveller's Life broke the 100k wordcount and I had to sit for a moment and just be amazed that A) I wrote so many words, and B) I am still writing (and enjoying it) nearly 10 months on from when I started.
23: What’s one piece of advice you would give to anyone who wants to start writing or posting their writing online?
Write a story that you enjoy. You are the first audience member for your fic, and if it's more than a drabble or oneshot you're going to be writing it for a while. It needs to be something that makes you happy or excited to think about often, and that you don't get bored of thinking "what if" for, or 'rehearsing' scenes in your mind before you can get to a keyboard to write them.
Thanks for the ask Shark 🧡
