I’m sorry if this has been addressed before but its like 1am and I have to know. VENDOR has a coin slot. We have established that VENDOR does not want Bills (heh) in this slot. But is there any actual utility for it? Since VENDOR can just dispense planets at will, is there a scenario in which someone WOULD have to/be expected to insert some kind of massive coin? Or is it just a cosmetic thing that’s part of the vending machine Look? Would sticking a coin in THEIR slot be considered a political donation or would it be grounds for THEM to call the police on you
Im gonna be frank with you: THEY've got a coin slot because THEY're a vending machine so THEY should and THEY'd look wrong without one. but I haven't thought of a use for it yet.
thing is,
I feel like it would be a cheat if it's just cosmetic and doesn't do anything
i also feel like it would be a cheat if it does something, but it's totally unrelated to the purpose of a coin slot and only accidentally superficially resembles a coin slot (like a space ship hangar or something). Like, the joke is VENDOR is a vending machine, not just something that accidentally resembles a vending machine, so THEY should function like one
the idea that somebody has to put a giant coin into VENDOR to get a planet is, unfortunately, also silly, and doesn't make a lot of sense in universe—like why would THEY have been built that way, THEIR creator species wanted to be free to get their worlds out of THEM.
so I have to come up with an explanation that allows the coin slot to somehow function the way a coin slot ought to on a vending machine without being TOO silly or illogical. It can be a little silly or illogical, just not too much.
until I come up with something more concrete, it's mainly there for Bill to make inappropriate comments about
