I sighed as the sunlight streaming through the window woke me up. Stretching, I hummed happily at the weight around my waist. I rolled over as quietly as I could before looking over the man sleeping behind me. I smiled softly at Aesop as his nose twitched in his sleep. I watched him carefully before gently running my fingertips over the scar on his cheek. A soft sigh left my nose as I traced it up over his eye. Aesop shifted in his sleep and I pulled my hand back. When he didn’t wake up, I moved to trace the scars that littered his torso. Aesop chuckled as my fingers danced over his ribs.
“what on earth are you doing darling?” He asked, voice rough with sleep. His eyes remained closed as he smiled. “It’s the weekend. Couldn’t we have slept a little longer?”
“I didn’t mean to wake you.” I whispered, leaning in to kiss him. Aesop hummed as his hands roamed my bare back. “You just looked so handsome in the morning light.” Aesop scoffed, pulling back to look at me.
“handsome?” He asked, a teasing twinkle in his eye.
“ruggedly so.” I responded, a smile tugging on my lips. “I know how you feel about them…but…” I moved to trace the scar on his cheek again. “I think they make you much more attractive.” Aesop pursed his lips as he regarded me.
“that so?” He finally asked. I nodded with a smile, fingers trailing down to dig through his chest hair to find the scars scattered underneath.
“they serve to prove you survived. You lived through the unimaginable. And you came out the other side.” I whispered against his lips. Aesop made a noise as my fingers drifted further before tracing the ragged scar on his thigh. I felt him tense up before relaxing as I kissed him. Aesop's hands moved over my back, one arm coming up to wrap around my shoulders. He rubbed the scar on my bicep, fingers tracing the raised skin before he pulled away.
"Then I do believe that yours also prove that do they not?" Aesop asked, smirking down at me. I reluctantly nodded.
"Even though mine come from stupid mistakes made wrangling beasts or playing quidditch." I shot back. "And yours come from saving the world." Aesop scoffed and rolled his eyes.
"Hardly." He muttered. "But let's agree to disagree." I hummed as he kissed me again before his hands went exploring over the various scars that littered my body.

I hummed happily as Aesop wrapped his arms around my waist, chin resting on my shoulder as we took in the sunset. His eyes closed with a sigh as I buried my fingers in his hair.
“still think taking that spring break vacation was a bad idea?” I asked, turning my head to press a kiss to his scruffy cheek. Aesop chuckled before pressing a kiss to my cheek in turn.
“What do you want me to say? You were right?” He teased. “I was wrong? This is the best idea you’ve ever had?”
“any of those would work if we’re being honest.” I laughed as I turned in his arms. Kissing Aesop, I gently ran my fingers down his chest. He shivered as my fingers buried in his chest hair, tugging slightly to make him groan. “But I’m having a better idea of what we can do with our time here. Especially now that everything has closed down for the night.” Aesop hummed, bending slightly to pick me up. I wrapped my legs around his waist as the sheet I had around me fluttered to the floor. Aesop smirked at me as he carried me to the bed.
“I must agree luv.” He murmured as he laid me down on the bed, kissing his way back up to my lips. “This is one of your better ideas.” I hummed as he kissed along my jawline, nipping at my throat as my head fell back. My fingers were back in his hair as a moan fell past my lips. Aesop groaned at the sound, kissing me deeply as he situated himself between my legs.
“please Aesop.” I muttered as he took to kissing my neck again. I tugged on his hair, earning a growl as he reached down to line himself up. With another kiss and growl, Aesop slowly thrust into me until he was fully seated against me. I moaned at the feeling as he paused, giving me time to adjust despite having already partaken in this activity earlier in the day. Kissing me deeply and slowly, Aesop ran his hands over my body. One of my hands trailed out of his hair to dig into the muscles in his back.
“ready darling?” Aesop whispered against my lips. I nodded and he dipped his head down to kiss me again as he slowly pulled out before thrusting slowly back in. He built up a slow, steady rhythm as he kissed me leisurely. When he broke away, he leaned his forehead against mine. I panted as he group his hips against mine.
“Aesop.” I moaned, wrapping my legs tightly around his waist. “Oh Merlin. Fuck.” Aesop chuckled, closing his eyes as I angled my hips up to meet his. “Fuck. Aesop.”
“oh darling.” He moaned, fingers digging into my hips hard enough to bruise.
“oh…oh Aesop.” I groaned, head tilting back as my orgasm washed over me. Aesop groaned as he kept fucking me through my orgasm.
“fucking hell.” He breathed out as he stilled, cock twitching with each rope of cum he released. Aesop kept himself raised on his arms as we came down from our highs. “This is the best vacation I could have ever asked for. I think it’s the best one I’ve ever been on.” I let out a breathy laugh as I pushed some of his sweat soaked hair out of his face.
“just wait until our honeymoon then.” I teased as he rolled off me with a groan.
I watched Aesop circle the room, eyeing up the students who had agreed to come. He glanced at me before climbing up onto the platform in my classroom.
“as I’m sure you know, there will be more dementors around Hogwarts and its grounds as the weeks go on. This is largely due to the attacks in hogsmeade. Although you didn’t hear that from us.” He started. Some of the students chuckled as I joined him on the platform. “These classes will be to help you learn to defend yourself better.”
“from both mortal and…let’s say corporeal attacks.” I added. “A dementor cannot differentiate between good and bad. A threat is a threat. And while they only attack when provoked, there is no guarantee they will not turn on you should you end up caught in the middle of something.” Aesop nodded.
“The patronus charm is a particularly difficult charm to master. But given time and practice, even the weakest patronus will protect you from harm.” He said. “Does anyone know the incantation?” The students looked at each other, confusion clear on their faces.
“that’s alright.” I said. “We don’t expect you to know it on your time. Nor do we expect you to be able to produce the charm the first time either.” I looked at Aesop who nodded in agreement.
“the incantation is expecto patronum.” He said. The students repeated it back. He nodded with a smile. “Good. But with this charm speaking the words aren’t enough.”
“you need to think of your happiest moment. Any memory where you are incredibly happy. The happiest you have ever been.” I said. “A trifling moment of joy is not going to do anything.” I looked over the crowd making sure to make eye contact with everyone. “I mean it. The happiest you have ever felt.” Aesop looked at me, his eyes softening for a moment before he turned back towards the students.
“some of you might be able to produce a full patronus. It takes the shape of an animal. There usually is no rhyme or reason to it.” Aesop said, glancing at me. “And over time, a patronus can change. For any number of reasons.” I smiled softly before pulling out my wand. Aesop pulled his out as well and we took a step towards each other. Our backs hit each other as we prepared to cast the charm.
“they’re going to talk.” I whispered. Aesop chuckled.
“as if they don’t already.” He shot back. I shrugged as I glanced over my shoulder. “Ready?” I nodded.
“expecto patronum.” We both said, making the movement with our wands. Two silvery nifflers appeared, zooming around the room before coming to a rest at our feet. The students awed as they watched the nifflers play with each other.
"My patronus was originally a Thestral." I said, glancing at Aesop before my niffler moved to nudge against my foot. "A few months ago, my patronus changed to this niffler here." My niffler seemed to notice the students and shuffled to the edge of the platform. "Ah ah." I warned, trying to hide my laugh when the students gasped when the patronus listened to me with a pout. Aesop chuckled before I shot him a look. He covered it with a cough before his niffler drew the attention of mine again.
"I am going to warn you now." He said, voice stern. "If you decide to start any rumors based off this, house points will be deducted accordingly." Aesop shot me a look as I smiled at him. "Also, I know there are a number of you that are...romantically involved. Do not expect your patronus to match that of your partner. Over time, it may. But do not expect it."
"It may never change." I added. "So do not think too much on what you get. Remember the patronus is an extension of your inner most thoughts and feelings. It is an extension of you. Down to the finest detail. There are no mistakes when it comes to a patronus." I looked pointedly at Sebastian. “No mistakes.” Aesop chuckled next to me. “Now pair up and get to practicing.” The students hurried to find a partner as Aesop turned to me.
“well put.” He said, offering me his hand as we made our way off the platform. “Now let’s see how many of them listened.”
“I think more of them were paying attention than you think.” I squeezed his hand and winked at him before immediately running off. “Mr. Shallow! We do not burn off our partners eyebrows!”
Aesop and I stared at the red envelope sitting on my desk. He squeezed my hand before waving his wand at it. I winced as it unfurled.
“(Y/N) (Y/L/N)!” I edged behind Aesop as he wrapped and arm around me. “How dare you go behind our backs and date that dreadful sharp boy. You know that fucking family is capable of.” Aesop winced as the howler got louder.
“Rude.” Aesop muttered.
“you have two choices. End things with that bastard or find a new place to live. Just because you are of age does not mean you can go against the family. Well know your decision at the end of term. Don’t bother to write back or ask for money.” The howler ripped itself up. I looked at Aesop who took a deep breath.
“that wasn’t really fair…” he mused, brushing a hand through his hair. “But in the end…” Aesop turned towards me and opened his mouth.
“no. Don’t you dare Aesop sharp.” I pointed at him. “I don’t care what my family says about you or your family. I don’t need them. I already have that job lined up and im moving in with Noreen soon too.” Aesop nodded, chewing on his lip as he listened.
“my family loves you.” He added.
“exactly. What do I need those no good snobs for?” I asked, throwing my hands up. “I can do without them and their backwards views. Fuck them all.” I turned back to Aesop and wrapped my arms around his neck. “We can do this right?” I whispered. Aesop nodded, wrapping his arms around my waist.
“we’ve got this.” He assured me, kissing me softly. “Whatever comes our way.”
"Why are the students asking me to teach them memory spells?" I asked as I layed on Aesop's bed, flipping through one of his many books. Aesop looked up at me from his place at the table, pen poised over a paper he was grading. "I had my third student ask me today and I had to explain to them that under no circumstances are they going to be learning them."
"I wonder..." Aesop mused as he sat back in his chair. "Spring fever maybe. The season of love." I giggled at the voice he used as Aesop smiled. "They probably are looking for ways to forget their embarrassments and rejections." He shrugged as he came over to the bed. "Probably time to talk to Black about it and let him send Matilda to deal with it." Aesop sat down next to me and tilted his head.
"I can feel you staring at my ass Aesop." I laughed, glancing over my shoulder at him. Aesop smiled, eyes still glued to my ass. "Hey!" I rolled over and smacked his thigh with my book. Aesop chuckled and I put my arms behind my head. "Hey. If you could obliviate yourself and forget one event, one thing, what would it be?" I asked. Aesop's gaze drifted to the ceiling as he thought. "And it can't be Scarbourgh." I added. Aesop hummed.
"Wasn't planning on it honestly." He murmured. "Maybe...My first day teaching?" Aesop pouted and then nodded. "Yeah. My first day teaching."
"Why?" I laughed. "What was so bad about it?"
"I nearly blew up the classroom. I was so nervous." Aesop chuckled. "I was supposed to be showing the students how to brew invisibility potion." I smiled as I settled in, propping my head up on my hand as he talked. “And I was so worried about them getting it wrong because of my instruction that I got it wrong. The cauldron exploded. Whatever potion had been created started melting whatever it touched. And students ended up in the hospital wing. I didn’t even realize until later I had gotten some on me and it had burned me as well. That’s the little red scar on my thigh.” Aesop chuckled as he shook his head. “I’d love to forget that.”
“damn. I hear I was about to say my first kiss.” I joked. “It wasn’t that disastrous but I mean it was embarrassing enough.”
“do tell.” Aesop chuckled.
“the person was an ass. Honestly that kiss was the best thing about him. But it was dry and awkward and he didn’t know where to put his hands.” I waved a hand and made a face. “His true colors showed not long after and I dumbed his fucking ass.” I gave Aesop a sheepish look. “Into the black lake.” Aesop started laughing.
“please tell me the octopus got him.” I nodded. “Oh please share this memory with me. I’d love to see it first hand one day.” I chuckled as I smiled at him.
“maybe.” I mused, enjoying the look of pure joy on aesops face. “I love you.” Aesop smiled fondly at me.
“I love you too.” He leaned over and kissed me. “And I know he deserved it. Whatever he had done.” I tucked a piece of aesops hair behind his ear as I nodded.
“Why the bloody hell do I have to wear this anyway?” Aesop groaned as he adjusted his tie.
“because it’s the new fashion and I will not have black show us up. Again.” I muttered as we walked through the great hall. “Now stop fiddling with that tie and pretend like you are happy.”
“Fine.” Aesop dropped his hand and held my chair out for me. “It sure is strange though. I mean I know they saved the school but…”
“they wanted to get married in the place that felt most like home. Aesop. This is the closest they can feel to fig. Let them have this.” I whispered. Aesop nodded.
“you think they ran into his ghost?” Aesop asked as black walked by, open collared and without his tail coats. we both eyed him as he smoothed his hair back before taking a seat at the front of the hall.
“probably. I imagine there’s been a tearful reunion.” I responded. “Do you think…”
“oh we’ve known that there has been some issues there. But for him to show up like that…” Aesop shook his head. “Unless that is the height of fashion now and you’ve lied to me…” Aesop gave me a teasing smile.
“I highly doubt it.” I responded, leaning into him briefly. “Oh I imagine there’s something more going on than we think there is. One can only hope he won’t take it out on us once all is said and done.” Aesop nodded as the music started. We stood up and watched as figs protege walked down the aisle, smiling happily as they neared Sebastian. The two of them were wearing white outfits, probably the latest fashion in America. It had been a shame the two of them had gone off to continue their adventures there but it was nice to see them back here. It was only a few months from now that the two would be back in teaching positions. Aesop smiled at me as figs ghost drifted past with his protege on his arm.
“it may sound cheesy.” Aesop whispered as the happy couple met at the alter. “But I don’t think true love will ever go out of fashion.” I groaned quietly as we sat back down.
“Aesop that is the worst line I’ve ever heard you say.” I complained as the ceremony officially began.
We’d both been aurors. Aesop left before I did, landing himself in st. Mungos with a permanent scar and limp. He’d kept his distance from me, saying how we were colleagues and it was inappropriate. Once he was discharged he pushed me away even further. Something about not wanting me to see him like that. I left when they threatened me. I had followed their orders and my life was on the line enough already without the ministry threatening me over a coverup. When the owl from Hogwarts had come, I jumped at the chance to go. Never in a million years did I expect to see aesop there.
he had welcomed me with a smile and a squeeze of the arm. I smiled back and sat down next to him. The meeting droned on and on. I was only kept awake by the snide remarks Aesop made under his breath. I only managed to keep from laughing by digging my nails into my palm. We were dismissed and Aesop glanced at me before heading towards the fireplace. I followed him and before I knew it we were in a hidden corner of the library.
“Aesop…” I squeaked out as he backed me against the wall, cupping my cheeks and kissing me deeply. “What the fuck?” I asked when he pulled back.
“don’t tell me you never felt it too.” He whispered, eyes roaming my face as he waited for me to answer.
“I did. Many times. And every time I mentioned something you shot me down because we were colleagues.” I urged. “Just like we are now.”
“and the consequences are much less dire than they were when we were aurors.” He said, leaning in again. I put my hand on his chest and he froze.
“less dire?” I asked, shaking my head and going to move out of the way. “Aesop we can lose our jobs.” I hissed as he pulled me back.
“that’s the thrill. No one trying to kill us. No one using us against the other.” He whispered, leaning in and running his nose along my jaw before pressing a kiss to my neck. “Just the risk of getting caught.” Pulling back, Aesop kissed me again. I sighed as I started to give in. “Tell me to stop and I’ll walk away. Say no and I will disappear. You’ll only see me at meetings and in the great hall.” His brown eyes searched my face before I grabbed his lapels and tugging me into another kiss. Aesops hands came up to my hips and pulled me flush against him.
“don’t even think about it. I’ve waited years for this Aesop.” I murmured. He smirked against my lips as I tangled my fingers in his hair. “So much for just being colleagues.” We both chuckled as he pushed me further against the wall, hiding us both in the shadows.
