Spoiler Alert Elementary 6x01
Spoiler TV preview: So this guy actually got to see the first two episodes. Turns out Holmes has PCS: Post-Concussion Syndrome, which usually resolves itself within days/weeks. I think the writers made a good choice here -- it’s a real thing that would cause SH issues/frustration with cognitive issues and goes away with no ill after-effects -- but of course, they bungled the set it up and I’m quite sure they’ll bungle the payoff as well.
Problem 1: JW knew SH got the shit kicked out of him. There’s no way she wouldn’t have suspected a concussion, especially when he started forgetting things and being sleepy and acting weird. And the fact that she was preoccupied with Shinwell is definitely not an excuse. She would’ve gone straight to concussion versus accusing him of using again. That makes Watson look really bad -- which is unacceptable on every level.
Easy fix: He should’ve hidden the beatdown. I always thought he should’ve kept it from her, cause he didn’t want to further taint her relationship with Shinwell while he was gathering evidence against him.
Easy fix II: Watson makes him get an MRI right after the beatdown, and it’s fine. He makes a joke about having a hard head. Then he starts having symptoms and hides them from her.
Problem 2: PCS doesn’t cause hallucinations. “Oh, but Holmes’ brain is special so it could’ve.” Nope.
Problem 3: All Holmes would’ve had to do is look up his symptoms on Dr. Google to realize what was happening. That makes HIM look stupid. Also, not acceptable.
SIGH.
