Au where baby spider ends up with a kuru-
Read a fic where Paz saw an atokirina while she was giving birth and told Eywa that she could have Spider as long as he made it thru birth
Eywa takes it very seriously.
Somehow either that atokirina or a dif one hitches a ride into the base and makes its way all the way to a sleeping baby spider. It can’t connect to any outside roots, but baby spider is tiny, so one seed is just enough.
Of course, no one knows at first. After the battle there was so much shit going on and as long as he wasn’t crying no one really took note of him.
And then comes the day that Neytiri and Jake come into hells gate bc Norm called them to tell them to come so he could tell them abt Spider.
He’s telling them abt the random baby they found who is def Quaritches kid just to turn and have a heart attack bc Neytiri is completely hunched over the makeshift crib and the bars r starting to crack.
Jake and norm and whoever else is there tries to calm her down bc they think shes abt to kill that kid but they all shut up when said baby reaches out and touches her face and she does the same to him bc-
Because she could see something wriggling at the back of his neck. So she cups her hand gently under his head and feels a tiny little baby kuru clinging to her finger and something in her snaps
That man took her home, her forest, her father, her people-
She glances out a window and sees an atokirina in the window, bobbing in place.
Her eyes snap back down to a defnsless, tiny, ugly baby.
That Demon took so much from her. She’s going to take the one thing he can never get back. Quicker than anyone could even think to stop her, she makes the one, smooth movement it takes to make tsehaylu.
The first thing a creature bonds with is their mother. She may not love this tiny pink thing, a part of her may always hate looking at it, it will always be smaller than her, and it will most certainly die before she will-
But she will make herself love this child.
Because he is her child now.
