Gem playing the game is so near and dear to my heart you don't get it.

She plays the game. She tells Pearl they can one v one but nothing more. She phases through every wildcard without a death. They're all participants in the game but Gem plays.

To her this is nothing. She follows the rules she makes through without as much as a problem. She knows how much it can hurt if you treat it as real. She saw it during empires and during Hermitcraft. It ruins people.

So Gem plays the game.

I’m starting to feel more comfortable with this idea I’ve had after seeing others come to very similar conclusions. What if meat!Rose is more of a puppeteer than we’ve speculated or have been lead to believe. She’s a seer, has seen the narratives to meat and candy scrawled out, and is not stupid. I find it hard to believe that she wouldn’t have any knowledge of Dirks narrative control or concoct a plan for it. I think she’s following the most fortunate route for what could be, Dirk going through his own mid life crisis. He killed himself in candy and she might see this as the only path to keep Ult!Dirk, the last “real” Dirk, from spiraling.
