ಠ_ಠ: what is your biggest pet peeve?

i have… i have a lot of pet peeves regarding the rpc or tumblr as a whole. i have compiled a smol list:

1) the culture of intolerance and hate that seems to only /grow/ despite the fact that we’re all humans here and should actually be capable of rational dialogue and serious discussion instead of name calling, really nasty language use, vague posts and anonymous hate getting doled out like rotten ass candy.2) tumblr’s one strike and you’re out mentality; with that i specifically mean tumblr’s incapability of letting people make mistakes without immediately vilifying them for it. this not just towards other rp’ers, but also actors and the like. no one is perfect, we all make mistakes. at least give people a chance to learn from them before raising the proverbial pitchforks and asking for their death. 3) tumblr’s unhealthy views towards actual healthy coping mechanisms and the subsequent romanticizing of mental illness. 4) tumblr’s views that if someone is popular and has lots of friends they’re apparently incapable of doing wrong and what’s even worse, that person’s friends going along with the wrongdoing bc what … they’re afraid of calling that person out on their behavior??? honestly, i’d much rather someone tell me straight on if i did something to offend or to hurt, bc chances are i wasn’t even aware.5) a smaller one, but way rp seems to become more and more about aesthetic over content; like, i can’t even begin to tell you how much i’ve wanted to strangle whomever invented that super grey washed out, undersaturated and overcontrasted psd for icons or edits a lot of people seem to be super fond of using bc to be quite honest it just makes your fc look like they recently came back from the dead. not to mention those themes where posts are somehow tilted at an angle, i have to zoom in to 250% to even begin to read them and if i wanna find any links to go over the rules i have to organize some sort of national treasure hunt, hovering over my entire screen like a dumb ass to see where the hell they’re hidden. 6) people’s rather disconcerting habit of excusing a character’s shitty behavior or using their Tragic Backstory ™ or whatever else they can come up with as justification as if that somehow makes it alright; bonus points if said character is played by an attractive white guy, and any female and/or poc character displaying the same shitty behavior is immediately condemned and hated for displaying said behavior. ( this isn’t really directed towards the rpc in specific, but fandoms as a whole. )

he wonders somewhere in the back of his mind if she means his established plan exclusively, or something separate, but can't always fathom the logic of the optimist. she talks of worth like it's a natural born right but he knows it to work differently. despite this, despite all their ever-warring ideals, vanitas considers the other a genuine and wilful personality, and he has watched her closely. watched the progression of fanaticism, seen the question of why melt into when. how every so often the layer of paint scratches off and the heart in her remains there underneath. an incredulous spirit in the midst of all inevitability - something refreshing about her disorderly self-righteousness, no matter how ruthless and blind he may think her, there will always be a kinship in their motivation that compels a failed yearning to agree. an engrossing personality. brief and cordial respite in calm water, extinguishing the pith of him. mutual understanding, perhaps even respect. and this is what he appreciates greatly: neither could stop the others' plans, and neither could ever care to. he was waiting here when she entered the heart, now he is the first to go, finally strong enough, and she realises the vanity of speaking out against him.

the sentiment is something he can only accommodate absently, doubt lining a huff of air as he shifts his weight, deeply hesitant to believe she truly entertains that kind of hope. something in her choice of words holds him when he looks at her, makes him feel embarrassed, and he looks away, as if to ignore them. he's aware of this plan, this fated conflict between herself and their captor. and though it's not in his nature to assume she will succeed, he wishes her, at the very least, well. regardless of what happens he is awake to the probability of them meeting again, in the real world. face to face, and blade to blade. each fit to die for their world entire.
