My last shift at Shelter. I have had the most wonderful time volunteering @shelterhampstead over the last 2 years and 8 months. It's a great charity that helps people with housing issues/housing crisis, but it helped me, too. It helped me to come out of a sad and anxious phase in my life. I highly recommend volunteering as it ticks so many boxes: gets you out of the house, out of yourself, in a public space, with a great team, learning new skills, meeting people, gaining confidence and hope for the future. It was a tough call leaving after becoming so close to the team and the place. I am now embarking on a new venture with my own unit and my vintage and crafty wares just a stone's throw away in the Hampstead Antique and Craft Emporium. I got to handle and price these delectable Victorian shawls for the Shelter Boutique where I volunteer. It wasn't easy as they could be original or costume pieces. In doesn't matter as they are stunning. A fab shop get together was had to celebrate Shelter Hampstead Boutique's 2nd birthday last week. I've been there since the opening day, as have a few others! These gettogethers are a lovely way to see each other, as most of us volunteers only do a shift or 2 and don't often get to work together.
