This morning, we said goodbye to our sweet Lily, as she crossed over the rainbow bridge, into puppy heaven. She was a good girl and brought much joy to our lives. I will especially miss her eyes – pools of dark brown – following my every move, while she hid in the shadows. I feel exhausted and empty from crying. Saying goodbye is never easy. I’m going walk Rosie and Buttercup, take a nap, and maybe hook a rug today. I’ll start with the nap. We moved house. Among ALL the other changes in our lives we also moved. Into our own home after almost a year of living with someone else. Unpacking has been painful and very emotional, amplifying every other difficult decision that still needs to be taken. They say moving is one of your top 5 stressors, together with death, major illness, losing your job and divorce. We are ticking a few of these boxes. Today my kids are also saying goodbye to their father, who is leaving for Dubai tomorrow. He got a job with an international company and will most probably be stationed somewhere in Asia after his training in Dubai. The Corona virus is another thing to worry about now. Life is tough, and certainly unfair. But today I decide to also see the beauty and the possibilities. So I am hanging my photos. And applying for passports. When they got back to their room, Lennon could tell that Nico was happy, but also very weak....

NURSE- “You need something for pain, Mr. Boedell?”

NICO- “No sweetheart, nothing more. I am content. Lennon, come closer...”

Lennon moves in closer and put his arms around him...

NICO- “Thank you for a great life, Lennon.  You brought such joy to me.  You were an amazing partner, and fantastic father to our daughter.  I owe you so much, and I feel terrible that I have to leave you alone.  I want you to be happy. Find someone to share your last days with like we planned....”

LENNON- “I won’t need to, Nico. I can be at peace and happy  knowing what we have is real.  It will last me until I go.”

NICO- “No...find someone.  I don’t want you to be alone.  Someone good, like yourself. You deserve it.”

LENNON- “What I have with you Nico was more than I ever could have imagined.”

NURSE- “Mr. Goth, I am going to step out....if you need me, ring, okay?”

LENNON- “Yes, thank you miss.”

I can't believe that this weekend we're moving out of this beautiful place we've called home for the last four years. We've seen so many changes in our lives while living under this roof, from undergoing IVF treatments to pregnancies to miscarriages to, finally, this miracle pregnancy of mine. It's brought us love and light and it's definitely been a tough one to let go of. So in honor of the times we've had and the memories we've made, both good and bad, I'm sharing a little tour on Darling.
