I love how because of all the Sherlock Holmes adaptations you can pick which version of gay Holmes/Watson you want: toxic queer baiting (BBC), hyper physically affectionate (Soviet), friends with benefits (50s series), old married couple (Rathbone movies), going through a divorce (Guy Richie movies), soulmates in an open relationship because Watson too bi (Bert Coules radio drama), spend the rest of their lives together (Bee Keeper’s Picnic), trauma bonded (Sherlock Holmes The Awakened), and newly dating to old married couple (Granda).

I love this scene in the original story, (the three garridebs) cause it’s very heartwarming.

This version played it for laughs, and I forgive it cause it was a really good laugh.😂👌

Idea: A Sherlock Holmes adaptation where Watson is a YouTuber and every time Sherlock is annoyed he just threatened to pull out a crack pipe or something to make sure the video won’t get monetized.

Sherlock: “Get that camera away from me Watson”

Watson: “No mate, this is important for the case.”

Sherlock: *Opens a drawer that’s just filled with Class A drugs and starts shoving them in front of the camera* “Look camera! These are bottles of Morphine! And that one was Opium! Don’t give John Watson advertisements!”

That’s my vision.

the way sherlock and watson exist in fandom culture as a whole is fascinating because it leads to so many interpretations that can appeal to so many people and make so many different demographics and cultures and characters that yes, may not stay true to the original, but still have the essence of the original in them and i think that's beautiful and says a lot about the human urge to create something and make it relatable to yourself and others send tweet

Sherlock characterized as cruel/unkind/unfeeling

John being an idiot/sidekick/used for comedy

Irene Adler being a love interest for Sherlock

Mary Morstan handled poorly/used to divide Sherlock and John

Moriarty being a supervillain of ridiculous proportions

Sherlock and John having any relationship other than mutual respect/care/love

Completely unnecessary plotlines added for drama (looking at you, Eurus)
