Well there is one thing this finale has over Sherlock S4. At least we didn’t have to watch Aziraphale beat up an already sick Crowley within an inch of his life while screaming at him, or vice versa.

Hi, I don't know if it was just me but did you notice that in S3, the Johnlock chemistry was really intense? Especially from Sherlock.
There was yearning and puppy dog eyes in every scene with John.
Do you think this was intentional by Moftiss? Or was it Ben and Martin's chemistry naturally playing out?

LOL ABSOLUTELY I noticed it, and it's why I inevitably ended up shipping Johnlock romantically, because it was so ridiculously intense. One of my theories on it was because it was written with Sherlock's POV rather than John's (which I think S1 and S2 are), and in turn shows just truly how much John has impacted Sherlock as a person, and how much he needs him after Serbia, and the complete "experience" that is the aftermath of his mistakes.
And John being John continuing to marry Mary because he was angry with Sherlock. But I digress.
And yes, I think it WAS intentional at one point, hence why Ben and Martin acted "that way". Both are incredible actors and there's no way they would have let the implications show if they didn't believe that Johnlock was endgame (I personally believe that they were told "here's the planned direction of our show, and then absolutely fell in love with it. Because after S4, both men seemed very disappointed with the end result...). But I am of the belief something either happened behind the scenes that was out of anyone's control (BBC shakeup at the time, bitter separation between Martin and Amanda) or – and this is what I lean more towards because the drastic shift in narrative in S4 was SO 180º – Mofftiss got pissed off that the fandom "figured out" their show (if I recall correctly, they prided themselves on subverting expectations, and the fandom figuring it out was just not on) and essentially took their ball and went home. And I have other gossippy / tea-type / mean girl theories I chat privately with other people about that I'm not going to state here, but that's the primary running theory I have. And that they were getting bored with the show and upset that they couldn't get Martin and Ben as easily anymore, so *shrug*. Anyway. Shitposting.
So no, I personally believe that the chemistry was off the charts in S3. Unpopular opinion but it is my favourite season of the series (not including TAB. I love TAB SO MUCH). And you're not crazy for seeing it too. I think that's why S4 is so disappointing for me, because S3 and TAB kind of were off the charts intense, and then suddenly in S4 it wasn't.

I just came accross your replies to my book Irene rant. Yes as we both agree book Irene was great. As an individual character. I don't see ship there and in BBC? There's no ship but cruelty. Irene is cruel and BBC Sherlock was visibly uncomfortable with her thoughts and messages. And Sherlock being human, in TBB did people notice how he comforted Sarah? He's always human. Irene Adler in BBC just used it. Worst depiction of empowering woman. As a woman it's a disgrace.

Yeah, Sherlock most definitely was not enjoying himself in ASiB, and I'm always boggled when people think it was "hot". I dunno, it's not my jam, honestly.
I think in her own way, BBC Irene was a good character, but they just... kind of "fetishized" her, for a lack of a better word (it's not what I mean, but it's more like Mofftiss have this weird "hurting Sherlock" kink and it's just kind of off??). All the women in the show inevitably get washed away somehow, or written out of character to how they were initially written (and this is only including "main" recurring characters):
Molly => Reduced back to S1E1 Molly, simpering over Sherlock after they established her to be a character who grew out of her crush on Sherlock
Donovan => In trying to make her a "strong character" they instead reduced her to stereotypes and then inevitably she just... was never seen again.
Anthea => Just disappeared, no mention of her character, if she was even still Myc's assistant
Sarah => Literally disappeared from the show, never to see her again
Mrs Hudson => WTF was her characterization in S4?? The car thing was so bloody weird, like out of nowhere
Irene => Reduced to a sex joke
Mary => Was going to be a badass villain and instead had the shittiest "redemption arc" that all the characters essentially idolized her for some godawful reason
Hopkins => I put her on here because she was LITERALLY HEAVILY PROMOTED as a new main character in S4 before it aired... and then she was only a one-note side joke with three lines of dialogue in one episode. Never showed up again after T6T.
Euros => Don't.... even get me started on her. Was some weird X-Man supervillain, who's entire arc was... needing a hug from Sherlock.
And I was also gonna add Baby Watson here too, but she's more an issue of "introducing a baby into a show and have it disappear when it's inconvenient" kind of trope.
Bleh, and I know this is ALL nitpicking and all my opinion, so it's fine if y'all disagree. I love this show a lot, and it's frustrating that it has HUGE gaping flaws in it, LOL. Anyway.
I think all the characters on the show ARE great characters, they just suffer from Moffat's inevitable decline in writing the longer something goes on when he's in charge, LOL.
Well, now I'm just wondering why it was so important for the story to happen in the modern era? Like, with what we were shown, it could have happened in a Victorian setting and not a lot of things would have changed...

Yeah, especially if S4 is the end? I guess... they needed a jet plane and cell phones? And needed John to make occasional pop culture references? LOL. I mean... they’re crime solvers and not once did they ever use current DNA technologies to solve a crime. Like at all. Which is weird because every show known to man uses DNA to solve some case (but you know I guess that would take away from Sherlock’s brilliance). Sherlock does use the modern lab stuff a lot I guess. And they needed cute scenes with him and a blowtorch? Because you’re right, they’re right back where they started and it makes no sense unless Johnlock was the endgame. I think that’s one of the reasons I’m still stuck on there being “something more”.
But then again, Mofftiss could have just wanted to attract a younger audience (more viewers = more money) and string them along until the end and not deal with the consequences when they come.
It’s really ironic that the best episode in the series WAS the Victorian adaptation, when you look at it like this... *shrugs*

So he probably went through the whole “you can only have a dog if you take care of him alright?” “you’ll bathe him and shower him and clean up his mess?” “you’ll feed him and walk him?” schtick.
And knowing him, he probably took it VERY SERIOUSLY and walked Redbeard three times a day and fed him at all the specific meal times that he’d set out asdfghjkl he would’ve been such a sincere and caring dog owner
