Questions from: it-speaks-to-us
1. What kind of dinosaur would you be and why?
I would be a brachiosaurus. Because they are large and calm and peaceful and they eat trees. Everyone knows who they are (even if the scientists have recently decided to change their name or whatever) and they're kinda cute.
2. What was the last meal you ate with someone that means a lot to you?
We had a big family dinner type thing on Easter. My dad was there, and my stepmom, and my little sister. It was nice. Sorta special, but no overt religious-y-ness. My dad means so much to me.
3. Do you consider yourself to be a proactive person?
No. No, not really at all xD I'm a laaaazy person. I do things like... a week to ten days later than I should. I don't really do things early or anything like that.
4. How do you chose books to read/movies to watch/etc?
Mostly it's a chance sort of thing. I'll see a book that that looks/sounds neat or has a cool title and I'll pick it up. If I'm in a bookstore, I'll generally just start reading a couple pages and I like the style enough, I'll get it. I've read several books (The Girlfriend Curse, A Long Way Down, By Schism Rent Asunder) because of that method. Movies, again, it's either random or it's blockbusters. Occasionally I get bored and start going through Netflix and I find some of the weirdest movies to watch (The Virgin Suicides, Dandelion, High Art, Love and Chocolate, etc)
5. Do you readily accept the world around you?
I'm not sure I completely understand the question, but I'll answer it to the best of my ability anyway. I... try to accept the things around me, at least the good ones. There are some things I can't accept. The hate everywhere, the fear, the confinement of being a teenager still stuck in her parents house that can't do anything. Those things, I do not accept and will change them in any way that I can over the next years of my life.
6. What was the last thing you got excited about at school/work?
Choir. I'm absolutely loving being in A Capella at my school and when we all do it right, we sound absolutely fantastic. When people are willing to put in the work, the time, the effort, and just willing to shut the hell up for twenty minutes, we get a lot of work done and make some beautiful music. Yesterday during after school practice, we were singing Sleep by Eric Whitacre. We only had four of the eight parts (no guys) but it was still so beautiful. I love being able to actually make music with a talented group of people.
7. Would five-year-old you be proud of who you are today?
Five year old me wanted to be a lawyer and a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader. She's be a little confused at my current state of affairs.
8. Do you select shoes for comfort or for style?
Somewhere in the middle, probably. If they're really cute, I can probably deal with them being a little uncomfortable. If they're really comfortable, they're probably beat to hell and ugly. I'm okay with either pair most of the time.
9. What do you do to calm yourself down?
Well, usually, I hit things. Like walls. Or trees. Or things like that. I'm trying to avoid that right now, so mostly I cuss a lot. Or I cry. And eventually I curl up in a corner with my teddy bear and just try to breathe. When I'm really, really stressed, I listen to Girlyman or I play my ukulele.
10. How do you think people see you?
I don't know. I think people see me a lot better than I see myself, at least some of them. I have a lot of friends who say that I'm pretty and notice that I'm smart, and for most of my life I've had people come to me with their secrets or their problems and they actually think they can get some real help from me. One of my friends once told me that there's actually a sort of vibe of reliability, strength, and almost... wisdom that he gets from me. So I think they see me okay. Some of them don't, and I'm working on not giving a damn again.
11. What would you do if you weren’t afraid?
I would tell my dad that I'm bisexual. Hell, I would tell his whole damn family that I'm bisexual, consequences be damned.
I would write a book, and take the time to make it good.
I would take more pictures and show them off in class more.
I would dress however the hell I wanted to and not give a damn about what people think it looks like.
