it's not great coffee. it's not even good coffee. in fact, rachel's not wholly certain that it is coffee. however, she pours out two cups worth, filling two travel mugs. hers and his. going for the fridge, she grabs the creamer and pours a generous dose in her own mug when she hears the footfalls behind her.

swishing the bottle in her hand, she's thankful there's enough left in the bottle for a decent serve. between that and the coffee left in the pot, it's fine. "did you want some? there's enough in the pot for another cup."

she's  got  a  bundle  of  blankets  in  her  hands,  warm  and  fresh  from  the  dryer  along  with  a  pair  of  socks  that  she  may  have  stolen  from  laundry  for  her  patient,  but  the  poor  guy  was  shivering  and  shaking  and  she'd  never  been  able  to  let  something  like  that  go.  so,  she's  quick  to  sneak  into  his  room  and  offer  the  bundle  to  his  boyfriend  who  started  to  bundle  him  up  and  something  about  that  scene  made  her  heart  catch  in  her  throat  enough  that  she  quietly  excused  herself.  it  was  a  call  of  her  name  that  drew  her  attention  away  from  the  room  and  she  offered  up  a  smile  for  dr.  sloan, 

“  dr.  sloan  !  i  was  just-  “  a  sigh  escaped  her  and  she  motioned  to  the  room,  ”  i  was  completely  stealing  blankets  and  socks  for  a  patient  and  later,  i'm  probably  going  to  sneak  him  and  his  boyfriend  coffee  from  the  lounge  because  the  hospital  coffee  is  garbage  ..  and  normally  this  is  where  i  would  apologize,  but  i'm  not  apologizing  for  taking  care  of  my  patients.  "

“took you long enough,” with a huff before slamming her beer down onto the wood of the table she had grabbed for them at joe’s. emily had gotten a text from elena, begging for emily to meet her at joe’s after her shift was over. whenever she got those type of texts, it usually meant that elena had a shift of all shifts and needed to let out some steam. “you know, as soon as you get a 911 from a doctor? you’re bound to start freaking out, so spill.”
