Gender non-conforming children shouldn’t go to Specsavers...

Specsavers have joined the ever-growing list of stores which unnecessarily gender children’s products, introducing separate sections for boys’ frames and girls’ frames.

This is not only sexist, as it assumes girls must like certain styles of glasses and boys must like others, preventing them from considering all options, it also ignores children who are gender non-conforming or non-binary.

Specsavers already separate adult frames into women and men’s sections. Now they are limiting children’s choices too.

Choosing glasses is difficult enough for children, who may worry that they will be bullied for wearing specs, without forcing them to conform to gender stereotypes.

Let’s stop this from going any further.

There can't be a single person in Britain who hasn't been tickled by at least one of the specsavers adverts. The one airing at the moment never fails to make me smile.
