shoutout to my ex best friend! Shout out for asking if I’m gay because of trauma, forcing me to stay in the closet cause she thought having an gay friend is embarrassing, being homophobic, and being very transphobic in front of my trans siblings! (Sorry, @enby-and-a-twink)

shoutout to the people who freak out when I reply with “Eros loves you!” when I’m told “Jesus loves you!” (No y’all are funny)

shoutout to my aroaces, demiromantics, alloaces, alloaros, demisexuals and all in that field for coping with the lack of representation in media (I’m gonna personally make sure y’all get more representation y’all are honestly the nicest people)

Shoutout to people who don’t support their queer children. Your one job as a parent is to support them unconditionally (targeted)

You know pretty sad. The fact that a lot of teenagers and kids loved themselves at the beginning. They would look in the mirror and think they are gorgeous and love their hair. But as they grew up some of our parents started criticizing us. Why do we hate ourselves?

I remember looking in the mirror when I was a child and loving my hair so much, I thought it was so soft and amazing. I would look in the mirror and love my skin, love the shape of my body.

That changed. Because my parents have told me my hair is ugly so go change it, we need to go to hairdresser and to go get it fixed. Sure, maybe my friends have told me that I look fine and it’s looks really nice but this is coming from my parents. Parents do this to so many kids and teens and not realizing the affect.

I used to look in the mirror at my body and be proud with what I had. I wasn’t skinny… but I wasn’t super fat. I was only three pounds over weight. Then they pointed out a single old stretch mark that was so old that you can barely see it. But they could see it. Sure I was eating properly now doing more exercise but all of a sudden I felt so bad and ugly. And I know a lot can relate.

As parents say, sometimes you need to know when to shut your mouth. But when are they gonna learn how to shut theirs?

literally so fucking sick of living here,,, my mom just came up from me literally not seeing her all day because she was working and i’m the one whos constantly home alone without anyone here with me, just to tell me that i NEED to respond to her texts even though i was literally fucking working on school shit because its so FUCKING important to know  how things are going.

and then has the absolute AUDACITY to go to my sisters room (we’re both doing homework rn) and tell her that ‘she better not be doing anything shes not supposed to’ after my mom and dad literally outed her last night.

NOT ONLY THAT they outed me as bisexual as well, last october.

I'm watching a documentary called "Recovery Boys" And (slight spoiler) one of the moms of one of the guys who graduate from the program and then relapses, moves back in with his mom and his mom is like "I'm not going to throw him out to the streets. I did that once and I was more worried that I would get a call that they found him under a bridge or that he was arrested."

Then she tells the documentary people that she would only throw him out if her belongings were missing... again. And then she says "yeah if I have to buy my tv again for the fourth time, I'm done"

So this heroin addict... steals his mom TV... gets a roof over his head... and she still accepts him home. And my dad only agrees to have me live with him for less than a year. I'm not on drugs. I don't even drink alcohol. I've never stolen anything in my life and then sold it for drugs

Why does it feel like I have the least supportive parents ever when my only "problem" is that I'm mentally ill???

I didn't choose to shoot up and get schizophrenia. It just fucking happened

Toxic parents don’t automatically lose their power over you when you leave. They can (and will) continue to hurt you even after you’re grown up, which was something I wasn’t prepared for.

I was lucky to be able to find solace in the form of my Dad, who had divorced my mum many years earlier, and so was a safe place to run to where she couldn’t follow (both when I was a kid and an adult).

Not everyone will benefit from having a parent who isn’t toxic, but if you do have a parent you love and trust and who loves you I suggest you cultivate that relationship. You never know when you’ll need them, even when you’re grown.

Going to be brown parents don't ever become the parent you had.

You should never treat your child the way you were treated just because you never had a good childhood doesn't mean you have to be asshole to your child too. Either treat them the way you wanted to be treated or See them become the second you.
