I keep watching the bachelors’ trailer and let me just say I laugh every time I hear that “Dylas” and that awkward “huh...” Love it, that’s my ridiculous boy. Almost makes me want to buy a switch but the price here and the upscaled pixel art are deterring me :( Hope you guys enjoy it for me then!

(On a side note, I’ve taken down the download link to Dylas voicelines from my blog, an explanation under the read more.)

I saw some people saying (before it was confirmed his voice actor remains D.C. Douglas) how it didn’t sound like him at all, and while at first it sounded a bit alien to me too, after rehearing his voice clips extracted from the game, you can tell it’s the same guy. Specially his marriage lines, the softer ones.

For comparison sake, I was going to upload a compilation of those tender moments when then I vaguely remembered @loftyanchor sharing those under the condition I’d not upload these anywhere. I literally recalled that... two years after sharing all of them on my main blog? Yikes. I can’t remember for the love of God whether I asked if it was okay to share those back then, but the link is off regardless. I’m pretty sure whoever wanted to download it already did it, so the damage is already done, but at least let it be known it was out of forgetfulness, not malice. Sorry :P

Hey just wanted to say so happy your posting again I love the blog so much every uploading is so exciting just like the announcement of rune factory 4 special I hope it brings you tons of inspiration :)

Awww thanks honey!! I remember your comments were the thing that actually inspired me to finish my dreadful long dougxdylas fanfic. I didn’t want to let you (between all the readers, but mostly you) down–cause I know the pain of waiting endlessly for a fanfic you love to be updated. It’s been 4 years and “New year, new bodies” hasn’t given sign of life, only 1% of me still waits hahaha (who am I kidding, I’d still give a kidney to know the ending of that one…)

Because I don’t want to just post answers here in this blog, I’ll show you all a little something: do you think I should finish this sketch I started on the beginning of 2018? I never finished cause.. too lazy, I guess? 15 characters is a lot, too daunting haha, but who knows. Maybe I’ll gather the strength to do it!

Couple asks + bonus Dylas

Hi all, I’ve been feeling kinda spammy by answering all asks one by one each weekend, so I’ve put them all together here. Also replying some unpopular opinions I’ve got later, some of which I could not answer by replying because character limit! I might keep doing this to avoid spamming you all!

(Longish post, so you’ll get a little Dylas I’ve doodled on my sketchbook while testing some colored pencils by the end of it!)

Ah thanks sweet! I was really obsessed with this game back then, and obsessive me knows no limit (for good or bad, unfortunately so I’ve learned...) But yeah, feels good that you’re proud, makes me feel proud too!

No, I haven’t taken screenshots of the bachelorettes married pet names, feel free to do it if you feel like, that’s way too much work for me to go through that again so soon haha. I think I have a couple from my Dolce save, in which I’ve chosen to call her master (and she likes it pffft) and also made her call me master too, cause why the fuck not. Those are links, you can check it out. 

Also, for the bachelors I only have the reaction for the marriage pet names, now I’m kinda wondering what they say with each choice when you start dating... I know Doug’s a little shit who won’t let you pick goofy names, for instance. Wondering about the others, I never called Dylas anything other than Big D. Oh well, guess I’ll add that to the do to list for the remaster run! 👀

Yeah I see at you mean. I don’t remember shipping them back then, since I’ve always thought Meg was way more into Forte than Leon, but I do understand where the shipping is coming. He does mention he finds her interesting I think, but I think he feels the same with Dylas, cause both are so easily flustered and easy to mess with, I guess Leon can’t help himself. I do think Leon and Forte are too different though, and I agree with you she must definitely not enjoy the teasing and the pranks he plays on her using Kiel. Forte is too stern and since she’s a knight, it’s hard for her to put her guard down, and I don’t think teasing is what would do the trick. Leon too has his guards up, and the teasing is how he cope--he needs someone he can open up instead of using his defense mechanisms, so yeah, double defense on this ship hahaa, what could go wrong? 

Digressing a bit here, I do think Leon and Dylas could make a good pair. I mean, they both have a lot in common, being both hot bishies guardians for Venti, who are now sort of displaced in a town who doesn’t look like what it used to, with no way of knowing what happened to the people they’ve left behind. I find adorable when Leon comforts Dylas about this issue, and I would like to see what they could be with some work on both sides to make it work.

Yeah, I guess Shara wasn’t all that bad after all, she was sweet and friendly and caring and had a cute design. Maybe people don’t like her as much cause there are a lot of wacky girls you can marry, and in comparison she’s undoubtedly the plainest, which doesn’t need to be a bad thing. But I’m on the side that feels strongly she is forced, I can say that because after seeing the new intro in which Micah run past all the girls to fall in the arms of Shara, I felt like maybe she was the one I was supposed to marry for the story to make sense. Even though I was going for Raven, I thought I could marry her in another save file, after marrying Shara, the canon girl. I have no idea why I thought that would be a good idea, sounds dumb now, but this is what I did. Little did I know that marriage in this game involved Aquaticus kidnapping your bride only to have you go through hell to save her before actually marrying pfft. I guess I felt bitter that after all that, I had to be married to a girl I didn’t even chose in the first place, then I stopped playing after a while. Never married Raven and I low key felt guilty for the longest time, also a bit resentful at the game for that Shara intro. 

But anyways, none of this is Shara’s fault to begin with, so I see your point where she gets lots of underserved hate. I just think that the hatred would not happen in the first place were not for that intro.

NOT SURE IF THIS BLOG IS STILL ALIVE BUT OMG NEW RF4 REMAKE WE'LL GET TO SEE MORE DYLAS

I SAW! I’m looking forward to Dylas RF4 remastered™. Did you all see how they animated the sprites on the trailer? There will be NEW events (at least one for each character) *crossed fingers for a little moar dougxdylas* with animated sprites (Lest little smile looked so weird, they better do the same with Dylas) Is anyone else sad by the lack of Dylas in the promos? I sure am; *breathes

Also, tbh, I thought I’d be happier with the announcement of RF5, but I guess I was so jaded about it never happening my heart turned into stone about it a bit. Glad to be proven wrong though! I’m just a little anxious about it being any good bUT let’s stay positive!

Gotta start saving for that Switch now! See you all when it launches!!

My unpopular opinion is that Dylas's redemption aspect of his character development isn't strong enough. I think my opinion owes partially to the culture of the region I live in, but his jackassery always seemed too much to be balanced out by the few less-mean moments. I wanted to see him grow out of his outbursts and become confident enough not to react aggressively to everyone anymore. I usually like Tsundere characters to an extent but to me, Dylas's personality is just too much.

Yeah I see what you mean! I’ve seen people complain before about how Dylas constantly snaps back at you by calling you idiot or telling you to shut up, which is just a tsundere trope but and I can see why this is a huge turn off for most–who’d want a boyfriend like this irl? Also, his reverse proposal is basically ignoring Frey for days, then being rude, yelling and making her cry and then standing in front of her door for days for forgiveness hahah. Real dick moves indeed, so I see your point. Somehow though, I never felt he needed redemption for what he did (at least from my point of view), cause the whole town went after him for what he did, and Frey gave him the cold shoulder, which alone was painful enough. But then, having all the villagers eavesdrop his confession and makie fun of him for it, that felt like punishment enough for me (as a shy person, I’d too be mortified by that haha) So I felt like they were even after the proposal.

Anyways, after you marry Dylas, it might be subtle, since he won’t change from vinegar to water overnight, but it is sweet how hard he tries to be more open about his feelings, and less shy (as far as possible.) It’s really endearing to me how he basically spend three different days trying to tell you he loves you (as if you didn’t already know by now), only for you to have the option to tell him jokingly you loathe him pffft (he freezes in shock, poor Dylas..) What I mean is that after marriage, he still has zero social skills, but for you he tries to be better! Which is really hard for Dylas, since the Frey that marries him seems to be a sadistic little punk--which might, in an odd way, compensate for the lack of not-mean Dylas moments you mentioned. Also, even though he still has outbursts, married Dylas seems more mellow in a couple dialogues, so even though it’s little, there’s some growth in there! 

I don’t know, I guess I just find his lack of social skills overall really cute, and even though Frey is mean to his insecurities, I find that to be way too funny, so I guess it all pays off for his jackassery in the end. I might be biased though, cause I adore this stupid horse husband.

Aww thanks honey! Sorry for the long long hiatus, maybe one day I’ll vent about what happened a little better!

As for now, I’ve been a bit busy but I am squeezing in time for writing that interactive dougxdylas fanfic! I’ve got all the different routes and opitions figured out, I just need to write each section. There are a lot though, so it might take a while!

When I finish it enough, would someone be willing to read/test it for me just so I can have a little feedback on how it’s playing? Message me if so!

Unpopular RF opinion maybe? I do wish there was a wider range of people that you could marry. i.e. people like Bado, or idk, it’d be pretty cool if they’d have made one with multiple cities you can travel to. They allude to them all existing at the same time anyway. I also wish the characters had harder “rules.” Like Leon never wanted to marry, but did anyway, and he shoulda had a gf route where he eventually moves in and everything is the same but you never did the cutscene & still can’t date

An anything goes Rune Factory game, where you can date all the single hot dwarfs across all towns, such as Bado, Gaius, uh.. Zaid? Is that his name? Uh.. the midriff blacksmith–oh, shes an elf? Whatever you get the gist. VOLKANON. All the univirs, all the saint coquille. All the hot single mom and dads. The old witch from RF3. Blossom pfffft What a weird game that would be, there’s no way it would be good hahaha–too many dialogue options would surely lead to watered down content, but hey. It would be fun to see something like that! Maybe your character is an older dude/tte too, could be different. Who’d would you be most interest in dating? I vote Volkanon, if it’s not obvious.

As for more rules for the dating, that sounded a bit confusing for me, but one thing that would add complexity to the game would be having the option to act certain ways with different bachelors. For instance, Frey is very naive when it comes to Leon and Doug interactions, but she’s super witty with Dylas for instance. I played her first with Dylas and then with Doug it almost felt out of character, unless she’s “acting” naive and innocent–which the dialogue doesn’t indicate.. Eh, I dunno, just thought it would be funny to mess with more husbands rather than only Dylas.

Just sorta of haha! Will be back full force when I get a Switch/the new games! I’m back to orbiting the RF4 tag though, expect a couple reblogs here and then :)
