It has been a full week since Sterling and Chen's epic fight but also since they had finally talked it out. A lot has been said. Fears had been shared. Nightmares from their past had been explored.

Yet Sterling had still felt they needed something more to find their way again. It had been a while since he'd thrown a big romantic gesture at her, something over the last few years he had tried to dial down a bit. This time, however, he decided to return to some old ways. He called in a few favors, waited until Ara was napping, and while he was supposed to be at the store picking a few things up, Chen got a text from him.

It’s likely not the answer they would expect, surely most would assume his mother, others Joon, perhaps the innocence of his child would put all trust into Eva, Sterling perhaps because of how close they’ve become and the fact he’s trusted the man with his personal files. But none of them hold the title of most trusted, however odd that may seem. The truth of the matter is Rebecca Chen, yes, Sterling’s wife and one of Masons’ closest friends is in fact the one he trust inexplicably. They’ve never lied to each other and he’s sure they never would, she calls him on his bullshit, and well they do talk weekly and text aside from that. “Becky.’

Emily wouldn’t forgive herself for passing up the chance to dress up or to see Phillipa dress up and schmoose with the type of people that go to a Gala. How cool was that. So now she was standing outside waiting for Ben and Phillipa to meet her before heading it.  It was more anticipation than nerves, but she was still checking her hair in the camera of her phone, the shimmering lines of her dress hidden beneath her jacket. “Hello you two,” She said catching Phillipa out of the corner of her eye and grinning.

Dark Corners

    The paranoid man kept his head on a swivel as he walked the quiet street with his takeout. Since he’d been attacked the last few weeks, he’d been more on edge than ever. Was Mercy going to come after him again? Josh? Or maybe there was more people coming to claim whatever blackmail was pinned to his head. 

    His eyes caught onto one figure that was on the same path as him and his jaw grew tight. He focused in through the low light to make sure he had a good visual on them. It seemed like they were going to cross each other so he tried to size them up. What were their hands doing, were their feet ready to leap, what were they staring at?

     As they grew closer, the face came into clear view and he almost paused in his stride. It was a face he recognized. But where. He kept his social circle small, and she wasn’t a regular. Why did he know her?  It seemed like she knew him as well when she looked directly at him.

     “You got a problem, lass?”

Eva walked over to stand besides her, not yet looking up but instead at the space as a whole, shaking her little head and putting her arms on her hips in as sassy as a manner that a recently turned four year old can manage. “Deys too manys boys here.”

Except in situations that call for it, Natasha's intention is never to alarm anyone, but she knows by just being alive that alarms people without her having to do much else and so Chen's reaction is expected and she has to smile because of how well Sterling has described his wife in talking about her. 

"I need to apologize, I've been meaning to pop by long before now," it's kind of funny to her that they both know who the other is, but have only just met now, "Sterling asked me to keep an eye on you while he's in Canada."
