It looks like it’s just Perrin with the Shienarans on the hunt for the Horn, which is  disappointing in some of the most interesting parts of TGH getting left out - the portal stones and the What If world and some of the character interactions (Rand/Mat/Perrin, Rand and the Shienarans)

For ex, Masema’s arc going from a strong hatred of Rand to fanatical devotion, leading to the prophet would have been interesting to see on screen - a take on religious fanaticism.

I do think Arnas Fedaravicius has been perfectly cast as Masema. He was great in The Last Kingdom and has got a certain intensity in his eyes to play a single minded fanatic.

I haven’t seen anybody talk about the change to Fal Dara, more specifically the environment of Shienar, so I thought I’d throw my feelings out since it was one of the things that surprised me in the trailer. 

Maybe it only stuck out because I just finished Eye of the World, but Shienar in the books is up north and super cold. Here it looks like a desert, with Tarwin’s Gap literally right outside the fortress.

I got pretty quickly why they might have changed it. 

- To avoid comparisons between the Borderlands in WoT and the North/The Wall in Game of Thrones.

- To make the threat of the Blight more intense and immediate.

- To heighten the contrast between this environment and the Two Rivers, which is a cold, mountainous, heavily forested region. This is especially important since the show has to be more condensed and they will probably skip a lot of the locations between The Two Rivers and Fal Dara.

Overall, I think I like the changes. It helps that it looks like they kept a lot of the implied Eastern influences in Borderlander culture and emphasized those elements. The interior shots and costumes are generally similar to how I imagined Fal Dara when reading but distinct enough to be cool and exciting.

I think I can see trees behind Tarwin’s gap so I’m hoping the Blight will remain largely unchanged because the book version felt very cool to me in terms of “evil landscapes” in fantasy.
