Hello! I was just wondering if you could explain how to tell the difference between a DR memory and just a scenario you’re making up? I feel like I get memories sometimes, but I always fall into the doubt that it’s just my imagination.
Hi diva! For everyone it's be different, but the way I differentiate making it up vs an actual memory is the way it looks and feels(if that makes sense...)!
For instance with memories here I think of them and I know they're set in stone and will be a bit foggy, maybe even jumbled, almost eye turning unless it's very vivid(ex: going on a date, meeting someone, an event, a scary moment)! If it's a scenario I'm thinking of or creating in my head I often see repetition in the things I say, or how people look almost like they're waiting for me to speak rather than moving for themselves,I also see it in clothes or outfits, as if I can only see myself or someone else dressed or styled a certain way. It's like the scenario is perfecting itself instead of just being brought up in my mind like a memory.
So my best advice for differentiating them is look for stuff that's off. In a memory, everything is just there you're remembering the past, some things may be a bit foggy, maybe even words will be scrambled. However in a scenario that's in your imagination it's almost like the "memory" is trying to perfect itself by repeating words or actions till it looks or sounds right, changing outfits or not changing outfits because the mind can only focus on one look at a time. But most importantly feeling, do you feel like it's happened before or does it feel like you're making it up and trying to make it perfect? Does it feel natural or forced?
That's how I tell the difference after looking back at stuff that may be off! I'm awful at explaining, but I hope this helped😭🙏
