Why Shikamaru Finds Women So Troublesome (Headcanon)
To me, the reason why Shikamaru has always found women so intimidating is because they’re the one thing that he can’t easily understand. He can’t predict them. They make no sense in his mind. Due to his intelligence, it’s always been easy for him to grasp an understanding of everything around him. But when it comes to women, there’s always something new to them and he feels like he’s always having to be on his feet at all times because he just doesn’t know how they’re going to react and it makes him so anxious. I mean when you’re so observant and insightful that you can have a strong awareness of everything all the time and be able to predict the next move of the world around you, but there’s just that one thing that you can’t fully understand or predict? It would be so intimidating. Guys like Naruto are easy to understand and predict. Naruto will always be a loud mouth and will always want to go to Ichiraku. Choji? You make sure you never call him a fatso, get him chips and BBQ and he’ll be the happiest guy on earth. But women? He doesn’t get them. He doesn’t get why women like Ino or Sakura, who have such strong wills and minds, would swoon over a guy like Sasuke who pays no attention to them whatsoever. It just makes no sense. Why? He doesn’t understand why if he or Naruto say something bad about Sasuke, the two girls would defend the guy to the ends of the earth when Sasuke would definitely not to the same for them. Why? He doesn’t understand how some of their friendships work. Ino and Sakura? One second they act like sisters and the next they hate each other. Choj and him never jump around like that. Their friendship is always simple and laidback. It’s the same as its always been. And most of all, he doesn’t understand how some days women like his mother and Ino can seem so caring and kind, and then in the next unexpected moment, they’re acting as frightening as starving lionesses. He can observe, strategize, gain insight on almost anything. But women? He can never foresee what they will do or how they are going to react next, and that’s something he finds as terrifying as hell.
