The new queen's soft pink eyes glided over the crowd from under half-closed eyelids, never stopping for a moment on a particular face, as if a fleeting glance was enough for her, studying, choosing...
Whispers among the guests and courtiers spoke of only one thing: whom would the queen choose as her advisor? Could it be that slender man with his neatly styled hair or that impenetrable one in the dark, floor-length cloak? No... neither caught her full attention, and the queen moved on, purposefully, as if all those glances were just for show, so as not to upset everyone with her choice. But her efforts were in vain.
As soon as she stopped and raised the diadem in her neat hands before him, the throne room instantly began buzzing like a swarm of wild bees.

So many questions were heard everywhere, interrupting each other, repeating themselves almost one after the other, and none of them would ever be answered. Only the lady herself knew, and whether anyone agreed or not was irrelevant.

Seeing Seonghwa in front of la Calle de los Muertos makes my latino ass so happy 😭
For those who aren’t aware…
This is the city ruins of Teotihuacán, (thought to be one of the largest cities in the world in its prime!)
It was a pre-columbian, pre-azteca city.
It holds rich architecture and paintings as well as other artifacts.
The giant ass road in the first Seonghwa picture is la Calle de los Muertos which translates to Road of the Dead in english.
Seonghwa seems to have visited the pirámide del sol (pyramid of the sun) and the pirámide de la luna (pyramid of the moon).
I could ramble about how some of the earliest known depictions of quetzalcoatl are found in Teotihuacán and shit but that will just make this ramble a hell of a lot longer-

So freaking happy that Seonghwa got to experience this national treasure. 🥹

I also want to mention how much that makeup look, the bold colors, the smudging (down to how it's smudged), and the way it excentuates his features has the energy of both drag queens and clowns, and I really feel like that was so intentional.
There's something here about how performance is both self preservation and deliberate autonomy.
