Nightmare of Nightmares
Last night I dreamed that I had lost every bit of my reasoning abilities and sanity and had agreed to do a month long locums stint back in TinyTown. DreamMe thought this would be easy because I already knew the patients. Something in me even agreed to do nursing home rounds. I’m telling you, I lost my mind.
In the dream the super incompetent front desk checkout girl from my current job ran the TinyTown clinic. She couldn’t figure out how to run the place. My old nursing home administrator (who was super great, actually) was the office manager and she was just as mad at how the place was run as i was but she also had no pity on me for my crazy schedule because the clinic desperately needed to make money.
The clinic was in a a different building, like an abandoned school that was even worse and more backwards than the actual building I was in before. Exam rooms were old classrooms and broom closets and weren’t labeled at all. They weren’t in any sort of order so I was running all over the building and even the employees couldn’t figure out where the patients were. There were no computers so there was no way for me to look at my schedule and I didn’t even have physical charts to write notes in. I found out later that there was an EMR system but they didn’t set me up for it and didn’t put a computer in my office so I was back to dictating on a mini tape recorder.
At one point in the dream I realized it was like 11am and I hadn’t even seen my 9:00 patient yet and I had like 30 patients on the schedule. Enter panic mode.
Then I realized that nursing home patients were mixed in with clinic patients on the schedule which meant I had to go back and forth to the nursing home 15 times a day.
Guys, it was the absolute worst. And how did I come out of this dream? I woke up to the ding of a text page from a current patient because hey, I’m on call apparently. I’m like still anxious from sleeping.

You know you’re rural when you take your brother a few towns over to a “big town” to celebrate his visit bc they have an Arby’s…. and they have a horse-and-buggy parking area complete with a water barrel for the horses!!
Just one day !
The 27th of July 2016- a trip to Cadaqués
That day, we took a trip from Barcelona towards Cadaqués (only a two-and-a-quarter-hour drive). A tiny town in the Girona provence of Catalonia (Costa Brava), Spain. At the highest point, a wonderful white house hangs over the sea and the village. I've been there and i breathed the pure inspiring air. Inspiring for me that day as well as the famous paintor Dali years ago. He lived in that beautiful house which was his most stable home. As of now, the house is open to all tourists.
The sea there is as blue as the sky and the streets are narrow with a mediteraneen breeze. The way of life is very tranquil and people live in harmony far from the noise of the big cities.
If you happen to find yourself in spain, I recommand that you to visit this beautiful town.
