Happy Hearth’s Warming! 2024

The Royal Family of the Crystal Empire spends a happy moment together.

I don’t think the Crystal Empire would celebrate Hearthswarming, but I feel Cadence and Shining would celebrate it or bring it over with them to the Empire since they both grew up with it in Canterlot. The two would definitely want Scarlet to experience the holiday, so they do the best they can to make it as best they can for him each year.

This year’s been a pretty good one for me artistically. I set myself a goal to upload at least one piece of art each month and succeeded! I’ll finally be able to do one of those art year summary things :D

And this will most likely be my last post for the year(besides the art summary) so see y’all next year!

Name: Crystal Princess Flurry Heart  Nicknames: Flurry, Xx_Darkness_xX, Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way Parents: Shining Armor and Crystal Empress Cadence  Siblings: Swift Valor, Indigo Sprint, Veuve en Deuil, Amour Étreinte Future Partner: Luster Dawn Future Children: Solar Sapphos  Personality: No one feels pain as deeply as Flurry Heart does. No one suffers like she does. She is different. She is alone. Flurry is convinced that nobody understands her pain of having her family torn apart, but really she is grossly overreacting over her parents’ amicable divorce. She is extremely selfish and insecure, acting like nobody else’s problems are as bad as hers. She naively thinks that with enough effort, her parents will get back together, but really she is the only one who hasn’t moved on. Her only comforts, in her view, are her girlfriend Luster Dawn and her rock band, but even they are getting sick of this act. Flurry matured quite a bit in her older years and styled her mane to suit her demeanor a bit more. Her role in the whole scheme of things is organization and paperwork, handling the elites of Canterlot and the nonsense bureaucracy that comes with it. She's incredibly intelligent and observant, with a great memory to boot. All the years of Twilights tutoring paid off. With her mothers influence she also became silver tongued, using her knowledge of ponies to get things done.  Cheese only matured somewhat, with the guidance of her tutor and lifelong friend Flurry they grow up to be a Hacktivist. Somepony who gains unauthorized access to computer files or networks in order to further social or political ends. She's a big bleeding heart and willing to anything for what they think is right. However, she also tends to be a bit of an airhead and can take unneeded risks...their accuracy rate not distracting from the point. Either way, the pair of them adore eachother to no end. Cheese being the only pony who can crack through her Princess' icy exterior. What with her games and stupid puns and pranking ponies she doesn't like.  She goes by Princess Heart or Flurrence depending, while her mentees real name is Raspberry Confetti Creme, Lil Cheese being her online alias.

Older brother of Princess Twilight Sparkle and King Consort Spike Sparkle. Trans Bi Polyamorous Stallion (He/him). Unicorn (more specifically, a lunacorn). Descendant of Clover the Clever and Starswirl the Bearded.

💙 Queen Mi Amore Cadenza “Cadance” - Wife of Captain/Queen Consort Shining Armor. Ruler of the Crystal Empire. Princess of Love. Trans Pan Polyamorous Mare (She/her). Royal Alicorn. Descendant of Princess Amore and (possibly) G3 Star Catcher.

💙 Princess Flurry Heart - Eldest child of Shining Armor and Cadance. Crown Princess of the Crystal Empire. Genderfluid Pan Mare (Any pronouns). Royal Alicorn (with lunacorn attributes). Likes hanging out with her cousins and being a good older sister. Has winter-aligned magic, can conjure blizzards at will. A member of the Royal Guard. Special talent probably has something to do with her winter magic idk just yet. Playful but serious when she needs to be.

💙 Prince Sweet Brier Rose Quartz - 2nd child. Agender Aro/Ace Stallion (Any pronouns). 31 y/o. Pegasus. Likes flowers, calligraphy, playing the violin and nature documentaries. Special talent is fencing. Named after a type of rose, as well as the iconic gemstone. Based the green in their hair on Clover the Clever. Looks very intimidating but is a sweetheart and a gentle giant. Wanted to make him Aro/Ace because I think having one of Cadance’s kids be Aro/Ace is a cute concept, and also because MiyaTheGoldenFlower making Flurry Aro/Ace in her verse gave me the idea :]

💙 Prince Concord Beaunoir - 3rd child. Trans Aro/Pan Stallion (He/him). 29 y/o. Unicorn (with lunacorn attributes). Likes alcohol, attention, playing the guitar, wooing anyone he comes across and needle felting. Special talent is wine making. Named after a type of grape as well as a type of wine. Likes attention but doesn’t desire a romantic partner. A cocky bastard but genuinely kind at heart.

💙 Princex Apollo L’Amour Sparkle - 4th child. Nonbinary Demi/Poly Pony (They/them). 26 y/o. Pegasus (with lunacorn attributes). Likes comic books, tabletop roleplaying, coffee, shounen anime and sci-fi literature. Special talent not yet decided. Named after the Greek god of the sun as well as 2 different cultivars of strawberries. Also named after their resemblance to their aunt, Princess Twilight Sparkle. Fairly shy and knowledgeable just like Twi, yet nowhere near as anxious. They’re just chillin!

💙 Princess Ruby Raspberry Chocolate - 5th child, twin sister of Eros. Trans Lesbian Mare (She/her). 22 y/o. Earth pony (with lunacorn attributes). Likes sweets, botany, stained glass art, cartoons and chick flicks. Special talent not yet decided (maybe something along the lines of food?). Partially named after the newest type of chocolate, and shares part of her name with Ruby Roman Rainier, son of Mica (Marble) Pie and Cherry Jubilee. Very excitable; loves everyone and everything. Surprisingly not as self-conscious about being the only Earth Pony in the family as you might think. Has a lot of love in her heart. The brains to Eros’ brawn.

💙 Prince Eros Eversweet Pomegranate - 5th child, twin brother of Ruby. Cis Gay Stallion (He/him). 22 y/o. Common Alicorn (with lunacorn attributes). Likes helping others find love, fairy tales, pie, crocheting and birdwatching. Special talent is matchmaking. Named after the Greek god of love/a cultivar of strawberry and a cultivar of pomegranate. Very calm and relaxed, but quick to anger if you hurt his loved ones. Regardless, he’s a sweet guy and is friends with pretty much everyone. I had a lot of fun designing everyone!! I took a lot of inspiration from other MLP/MLP NG artists but also came up with some ideas myself. I first saw the heart-shaped horn concept from @/fastserve, the Royal Alicorn HC from @/lieutenantcactus, and the concept of lunacorns (or moonicorns) from @/Lopoddity. Ngl I was a bit intimidated when it came to designing the other 5 ShiningDance kids because I wanted to make them look good, but I'm really happy with how they came out! I personally don’t mind straying into more common NG design tropes because at the end of the day we’re all just making kids for candy-colored horses, so it’s supposed to be a lil self-indulgent, but I did try to make something different. Can’t say I’ve seen a lot of ShiningDance kids with green hair! But yeah. Just a reminder that their designs could change whenever I get to making their actual refs (and I’m still only on S4, so I still have 5 seasons worth of lore/character stuff to eventually take into account), but for now I’m having fun doing these headshots. The next design choice to tackle will be their cutiemarks, which I know I’m gonna struggle with, but we'll get there when we get there

More next gen! This time more children from Shining armor and Cadence! They're Flurry Heart's only siblings. More under the cut!

When Shining and Cadence got the news that their "second child" was actually going to be three new children Shining almost fainted and Cadence simply remarked, "If it's three alicorns, I'm retiring." Thankfully, they were not alicorns but actually triplet Pegasi, and became known as Moonstone Lily, Garnet Rose, and Delphinium Sapphire. Flower names are pretty uncommon in the Crystal Empire as the landscape does not put forth much natural inspiration, but after Mistmane became the royal gardener she and Cadence became quite close and she played a role in naming the foals. The triplets are often affectionately referred to as "The Cherubs", a nickname given to them as chubby foals by Mistmane, which has stuck with them until adulthood. They see her as their psuedo-grandma and can often be seen tagging along with her shopping, going on brunch dates, and lazing about the garden while she works. Their talents are all in traditional theater, each one representing a different aspect. Moonstone is Tragedy, Garnet is Romance, and Delphinium is Comedy. They preform every year at the Crystal Fair, a spectacle that everyone looks forward to. They love their older sister Flurry Heart to bits and are often the only thing in between her and Radiance's heckling, and they take great pride in tiring Radiance out enough that she leaves Flurry alone.
