This is so cool!
A while back follower / followee Shining Wizard contacted me and said they wanted to send me "something" - and this is what it turned out to be! A 1960 paperback of the screenplay of Bergman's The Virgin Spring by Ulla Isaksson.
Ulla Isaksson was a Swedish Feminist author. Bergman had based Nära livet (So Close to Life) on two of her short stories and asked her to write the screenplay for which she won the international screenplay award at the 1958 Cannes Film Festival. He subsequently asked her to write the screenplay for The Virgin Spring and again when he made a TV movie of another of her books, The Blessed Ones (one of the Bergman's I've never seen).
This little book not only has the screenplay but also photos and the original ballad the story was based on. Going to start reading tonight!
