 There’s lightning in his blood. Izuku breathes long and slow, sitting on the floor as it burns through him. His mother heard him collapse and had probably already called the school. They would tut about him being weak with such a strong soulmate. Izuku clenched his fists.

 His body wasn’t meant for lightning. His soulmate obviously had it as a Quirk and it hurt him, and the pain was tripled for Izuku. God, it burned. 

 But he held on. He wouldn’t cry. His soulmate was in pain and hurting. He wouldn’t cry. He would hug his soulmate when they met and refuse to let go.

 He loved them already. Both of them, for he knew there had to be two due to…

… The phantom aches were back. Denki reached up to rub his jaw, wincing. He remembered when he described the pain to his dad, who went pale and called up his uncle. Uncle Hizashi got really quiet and asked some more questions.

 The pain stopped after that, but Denki had been six and didn’t know better. He did now, age fifteen. His soulmate had been muzzled. And it left pain in his jaw Denki felt years later. His uncle used to get muzzled to, and had launched a campaign to stop all forms of it for kids unless there was actual reason, such as a Quirk that made jaw control hard, and they needed to keep it closed. 

 Denki trailed a finger along his jaw. He wanted to meet them. Wanted to hug them and tell him it would be okay. One soulmate got muzzled. But the other…

… the burns were back. On his arms again. Hitoshi closed his eyes and breathed. 

 When he met the person hurting his soulmate, he’d ruin them. These weren’t self-inflicted, he could tell. They were some asshole hurting his soulmate. It made him so angry he could cry. He wanted them safe. Wanted them okay. 

 It also made him hope that they would be like him. A kid with a ‘villain’ Quirk who understood. He prayed they would be, or perhaps a kid like Present Mic who had a Quirk people saw as bad. The teachers who forced Hitoshi into the muzzles as a kid and his bitch aunt got caught after the Voice Hero spoke out. His parents came right back from their jobs to watch over him.

 He hoped his soulmates had people like his parents. He truly wished for it, even as his arms burned.
