Cosmodeus realized, quickly after catching his new friend, that ah.... Plasma sorta just does what he wants. Including in battle. Especially in battle. In fact, every time Cosmodeus accidentally stumbled upon a wild Pokémon, Plasma would outright refuse to listen to them, even when they called for a retreat...

So by the time they'd reached Cortondo, they hadn't been able to get any training done together. Cosmodeus was honestly pretty worried for the gym battle. Would they actually win? Would Plasma just refuse to listen the whole time?

Cosmodeus got themself through the (rather easy!) Gym Trial and faced off against Katy.

Yeah, this was going about as well as he'd feared.

Plasma refused to obey!

At least the few times Plasma did listen, he wiped out the opposing Pokémon in one shot. ...Well, except for the Teddiursa at the end. But still. Eventually, Cosmodeus and Plasma won their first ever badge!

Now, they were off on the next adventure....

Finding a second Pokémon.

I got the shiny Odd Egg Pichu! It took 81 eggs. Each egg took around 13-15 minutes to hatch.

I had to reset over 8 other shinies. Mostly Cleffa and Magby, a couple of Elekid, and one Igglybuff. Never saw a shiny Smoochum or Tyrogue, (Tyrogue would have been painful to reset over).

But I have finally completed a quest that I started and abandoned in 2002. It helped that I wasn't burning through double A batteries this time.

Bill's Eevee is next. But first I gotta whoop Whitney with my sparkly owl, weasel, and baby mouse somehow.

After 1,000+ Encounters/KOs with no luck I switched to hatching eggs and after 440 eggs I finally got my shiny Coal!

Can’t believe I got so lucky with the start of my shiny quest. I was honestly expecting to hit at least 3,000 encounters before getting a shiny. Even better that I hit my target, Patrat, instead of Purrlion since Patrat is going to be way better for catching future shinies.

Tumblr won't let me post pictures right now for some reason, but I just finally got the first route shiny in Pokemon Crystal, almost one year shy of the start date.

I'll show y'all what I got as soon as Tumblr works again.

Star evolved today as I overleveled her. But she wasn’t running away from pokemon 4 levels behind her consistently so here we are. Still haven’t done the second gym because I want to get a pokemon from Virbank before moving on.

Update 1: Ultra Moon 02/12/2025

Hi there! This is my first update on where I am at with my shiny hunting quest in ultra moon.

Main Story

As of December 2nd 2025, I have just finished the main story of ultra moon. As I'm writing this I am currently watching the credits roll.

Funnily enough this is my first full playthrough of the game that I have finished. On my first playthrough back in 2017 (when the games came out) I got stuck at the electric trail and restarted my game some time later. Then a few years ago I played through the game in italian but I never did the league. I stopped to shiny hunt after the necrozma stuff happens.

I am so happy to have finally finished the game and now I'll be fully starting work on finishing my dex to get the shiny charm and also start some hunts.

Pokedex

My current pokedex progress ingame is 201/400. So I only have half of the dex left to complete it. My game plan is to look up the pokemon I'm missing by island and trying to get them one by one. I'm also going to transfer some extra pokemon in from my bank as I have a lot in there that I could transfer in. It'll hopefully make it quicker in the long run!
