interstateimpala started the body love tag. It's pretty awesome.
So, here's the reasoning for it (according to her): about 99% of human beings are insecure about the way they look, and while it’s a universal truth that your worth is not measured in your beauty, fact remains that it’s your body and you’re pretty much stuck with it. Thus, this tag is about accepting yourself, your body type, and taking pride in the way you look (because like it or not, your physical appearance very often has an impact on your self-esteem).
This tag is also about promoting self-confidence in reference to that scathing remark people tend to get when they express confidence or pride in their appearance. To those of you who feel that way, just know this: loving your body is healthy, not conceited. Expressing shame of your looks promotes lack of self-esteem. Low self-esteem is not attractive; confidence is.
The idea of this tag is simple: list five aspects of your physical appearance you’re proud of, and pass it on. They can be major or minor, whatever you feel like mentioning. If you struggle with body image, you don’t even need five; even just one is progress. Just to be clear, though: this won’t cure self-esteem issues. It is, however, a step forward in inspiring a healthier way of thinking.
WHAT I LIKE ABOUT MYSELF:
1. My hair. Poofy goodness. No maintenance. Makes me look five inches taller than I actually do.
4. My weight, and general size/slimness.
5. The fact that I'm fit, at least moderately so. I can run a decent distance. I'm happy with that.
I’m tagging: shions-cat, scalar, and whoever else wants to do it! (Which is everyone who reads this, by the way. It's good for you. Do it.)
