the thing about those kinda shippers is that they can agree that something is OOC or just plain bad, but it's always for delusional reasons. There's a difference between 'this makes no sense given the arc established in earlier things' and 'my ship didn't happen therefore the writers decided to shit in queer fans' mouths.' like, writers are not NEARLY as obsessed with shippers as shippers like to think they are. they're not terrified of y'all, they just don't care about giving into your crap.
Agreed. Sometimes writers do just make bad choices, and fans get understandably upset. That does not preclude some of those who are upset being upset for the wrong reasons - i.e. being entitled shipper brats.
Shippers who have taken it to the point of obsession are not generally capable of realizing their ship is just not that important to anyone else. They’ve inflated it to such excessive importance in their own view of the canon (and sometimes, disturbingly, the world in general) that it can’t possibly be that nothing’s really there romantically and the writers never spared their ship a serious thought when deciding what to write.
No, no, no, that’s impossible! It has to be some kind of deep, maliciously harmful conspiracy against them!
