You’re finishing work with your iced coffee in hand, the shift draining the life out of you but what can you do? Work is work, right? At least you had your iced coffee—

Someone bumps into you on your way out of the coffee shop before you can even take the first sip, effectively knocking it out of your hand and all over the ground. Well.

You were either going to yell or cry, eyes shooting up to see the culprit’s eyes widen almost comically and the handsome face they belonged to begin to stutter out a hundred apologies, hands hovering concernedly. You felt the fight leave you as you took in the man’s genuine apology but that meant you were probably visibly tearing up, pulling several “oh no”s in a funny accent from the man still standing in front of you. Steven offered you his name, and promised to buy you a new drink if only you stopped looking so sad, and that was truly very sorry.

You let Steven buy you a new coffee, and after seeing how genuine and kind he was in his mannerisms, you decided to take his offer to sit and chat for a while, getting to know the cute new tour guide in town. He had just landed a new job at the museum you had been meaning to check out in the city and he jumped at the chance to give you a personal tour. The two of you lost track of time, Steven’s awkward jokes making you more comfortable than you would’ve given him credit for, and you felt yourself at ease around him, easily agreeing to see him again. Plus, it’s not like you could say no to those beautiful brown eyes staring at you like that.

Several weeks go by and you find yourselves stealing moments around each other’s lives; you popping in to hear the tail end of Steven’s tours and making him blush under your gaze and him joining you for lunch at your restaurant, shyly waving at you from the hostess desk. In the beginning of your relationship, Steven was too shy to initiate any type of physical intimacy, not knowing what your personal boundaries were and he didn’t want to cross any… until you pulled him behind a statue after one of his tours to show him just how much you loved listening to him speak.

He soon learned that you lit up when he bought you snacks, and noticed the same light in your eyes when you shared a meal together. He began incorporating more ‘food time’ as he called it during the time you spent together, looking for fun new restaurants for you to try together in the city. In return, you learned to make some new vegan recipes for when he’d sleep over and needed to take lunch to work.

Speaking of sleepovers, Steven always woke up with your hair in his mouth but he never complained. Too many nights spent alone, he was so happy to be waking up next to his pretty girlfriend, hair in his mouth and all. Cooking breakfast together was one of his favourite things about your nights together, and he would always play music from the several playlists you had made him. He loved seeing you sing along under your breath to the songs, swaying your hips gently around the kitchen with his chin on your shoulder watching your movements.

Yeah. He could get used to this city.

No matter how or where Ubbe and you first meet, one thing is clear: He is taken with you from the first second. The time where he first approaches you would probably be when you are out somewhere, drinking with your friends. He'd gather some courage with a drink of his own before making his intentions clear. Between the two of you, slipping into a comfortable conversation is easy. You quickly discover that you have many similarities, among them being an older child. Ubbe is, after all, the eldest child of Aslaug and Ragnar. Therefore he has a lot of experience with keeping the younger siblings alive, making sure they wouldn't rip each others heads of. A topic where both of you may have quite a few stories to share. In time Ubbe becomes your strong shoulder to lean on for comfort and your personal advisor. He makes sure you're okay, when you're going through a hard time and gets you back on track. Whenever he comes back from a raid, you can be sure he's got new books on board of the ship, eager for you to read them. He's never taken interest in them before, but since you came into his life he takes every story from foreign lands he thinks look interesting and brings them back for you to read. (he'll never admit it outright, but he loves the far away look in your eyes when you're completely invested into a new story. the moments where he has to call your name a few times for you to notice him and snap completely out of it.) Apart from that Ubbe doesn't stop you from meeting his family, but he would without a doubt give you a fair warning. (and he would protect you from any flying knifes or axes when Ivar and Sigurd go at each others throats again. And god help you when Bjorn joins the show.) The most welcoming to you would be Hvitserk, but even more so Aslaug. She would be the one to get you out of any sticky situations and greet you with open arms, happy that Ubbe has finally found the one for him.
