Starkid is one of the absolute best arguments for supprting independent art. The fact that the shows you're invested in can't get canceled by Big Daddy Streaming, the quality is always amazing, the love of the cast and crew doesn't get squeezed out by surprise budget reductions, the fact that since crowd funding provides almost all costs up front (plus the presence of voluntary digital ticket/in person tickets for additional funding), the fan base can access the full material for whatever cost they can contribute (even if you can give nothing monetarily, you will still get a professionally shot version of the material eventually, without surprise fees or password crackdowns, AND with captions/completely accesible regardless of location). The same goes for Tin Can Bros, Shipwrecked, and all the other associated theater and web series companies loosely connected to Starkid. Like, I cannot believe the amazing content provided to us at the same level as Broadway or streaming services with billion dollars at hand, with almost none of the catches that come with others. Like, I cannot believe that we get all of this right at our hands.
Edgar Allan Poe's Murder Mystery Musical is fully funded! Got the need to draw my favs for the occasion 🐦⬛🔪
Can't wait to see them again 🍷🐦⬛🥃
close ups under cut
10 years ago, Edgar Allan Poe threw a murder mystery dinner party. Now he's at it again, this time on stage with original music!
Hey, guys. If you've somehow missed it, an indie film company, Shipwrecked, which puts out literary-inspired shorts and series on YouTube is crowdfunding a live stage musical version of a project they've made before called Edgar Allan Poe's Murder Mystery Dinner Party.
It's a really fun miniseries that you can watch (for free!) on YouTube here. Edgar Allan Poe invites a bunch of literary greats to his house for a murder mystery-themed dinner party that turns quickly into real murder! (dun dun duuuuuuun!)
It's a really fun series by a really great group of content creators. Their crowdfunding has slowed. This is something that's really important to me. If we could help them reach their goal by the deadline of February 22nd, that would mean a lot to me and to the rest of Shiprecked's small but mighty fan base.
If you enjoy gothic horror, murder mysteries, musicals, Edgar Allan Poe, quippy humor, or just supporting indie artists, please take a look at their kickstarter and give if you are able.
Please feel free to share this post. Let's get them to their goal of $150,000 by February 22nd. If everyone gives just a little, we can get them there together! Thanks, everyone!
Do I often draw fanart? No. Do I ever post my other art on tumblr?? Also no. Did I end up finally putting together the art blog I've been considering entirely for this?? YES.
Anyways. I've had Poe Party for approximately two days (it came out 10 years ago) and I would die for it actually. There's only four days left for the live musical kickstarter to be fully funded so if you're interested in joy and whimsy and the funniest jokes ever and a bunch of famous authors going to a murder mystery party and actually getting murdered about it (the comedy!) and actually if you haven't seen it, do go watch the original Murder Mystery Dinner Party (Free on Youtube and also so beautiful to watch!!)
But anyways!! Please do consider pledging to Edgar Allen Poe's Murder Mystery Musical!!
