Shiro Headcanons

First and foremost,

Shiro is a WARRIOR. He does not simply LEAVE the battle field. I REFUSE to believe he simply accepted his civilian role.

He HAS to be put back into action. Even if that means commanding voltron or piloting black. Domestic life does NOT suit him.

Look at his Garrison days, he was constantly pushing limits and himself. I refuse to believe he will just STOP. I refuse to believe he just accepts things so easily, especially things he can change.

As much as I love that he wound up with Curtis, I don't think it will last. It was a trauma bond. Curtis is a rando imo. We don't know a lot about Curtis either, which makes this tougher.

Shiro is going to go through immense withdrawals and PTSD. He needs a crap ton of help and support.

Ptsd is trying and breaks relationships. I have seen it. It is not fun. It changes people, it makes them not who they were.

General

• Dad and big brother energy

• Semi smart jock energy.

• Protective of his family

• Willing to throw down for his family

• Will resort to violence when pushed.

• Will not be the one to throw the first punch, honorable for the other to throw the first blow.

• He is not above pulling someone away from an argument.

• He has picked someone up and moved them away from a confrontation so he didn't have to deal with the fighting.

• Tries to think through things logically first before going head long into the fray.

• Believes in his team and their capabilities. He knows their strengths and weaknesses and nurtures them.

• Knocks nonsense off. But will enjoy fun when he can.

• After Hunk, he is the best hugger. Despite not hugging alot. He actually likes hugs.

• Likes naps.

• Will nap in the lobby, close to the action, if it is quiet.

• Rarely uses rank as an argue point, he likes to have the opinion of his whole team.

• Will gladly lend an ear to anyone. But rarely has anyone lend an ear to him.

• Always likes to push the limits. He tests the line in an irritating way.

• He sets the routine for the group.

• Leads by doing.

• A bit of a bookworm. Can be caught reading if not looking up things.

• Has fallen asleep with a book on his face.

• He likes cats and dogs. In that order.

• He is the embodiment of Air.

• Scars on his skin are the victories he won. He is a little self conscious about them.

• His first and main love is the stars. His second is being a pilot.

• How he got into the Garrison was because he wanted to explore and push the boundaries of a human. Go further, farther, and faster.

Food

• Can cook a bit, nothing fancy.

• Doesn't like sweets

• Prefers coffee or tea over soda.

• Water.

• Likes savory.

• Can handle some spice.

• Drinks occasionally.

Hygiene

• Showers at night

• Toothpaste and mouthwash

Fighting

• Hand to hand

• Uses his arm as a weapon

• He is more of a brute force fighter vs stealth.

Prosthetic

• Self conscious about his arm.

• Doesn't like that he can't feel temp through his arm.

• Misses the feeling texture through it.

• Stares at it at night while he lays on his back in bed.

• On more than one occasion, pidge has asked to look over his arm. She has plugged it into her computer and tinkered with it, making adjustments for him.

Routine

• Wakes up at 530 for the day.

• Gets dressed.

• Warms up and works out before breakfast.

• Trains every 6 days. One day of rest. Even if it is just for 20 minutes.

• The others started to follow his routine. While he would spend time practicing, the others would do their own thing.

• If he can't sleep, he lays in bed and stares at the ceiling until he gets himself up and out of bed. He will wander around the castle, usually finding himself in the Bridge.

• He will sit and watch the stars or fiddle in his chair with the data on his computer.

• He likes looking at the star chart in the bridge.

• Sometimes he finds himself in the training room. He will meditate or just sit there quietly. Sometimes he will put on the practice bot.

• Sometimes he will head to the hangar and sit in front of Black or in the cockpit. It's his place to think and unwind.

• He rarely likes to sleep due to night terrors. But he will nap.

PTSD and Trauma

• He has scars he isn't proud of.

• He thrashes at night and has put holes and dents in walls.

• He has cried out at night.

Shiro Headcanons Episode 3 (Took a while, I'm sorry)

Shiro is a workaholic under stress - it is incredibly bad - he has actively ruined relationships due to this horrible habit of his

Shiro can be oblivious to someone having romantic feelings for him

He gets nervous on rollercoasters.

Shiro has tried cooking several times. He has failed. His mom has stated that he's the best little helper, just that the gods above don't want him to cook.

Shiro does not like the ocean. He's actually afraid of it. His reasoning is that he doesn't know what's in it. So when he talks about how beautiful the ocean is, something is wrong. Very, very wrong.

Shiro has done three one night stands during his time as an older cadet before he dated Adam. His roommates hated him for it.

Shiro is a rainbow baby. A rainbow baby is a baby that is born after a miscarriage. He knows that he would have been baby number 5 in his immediate family.

Shiro is actually incredibly bad at mazes. He can not figure them out even if he does a whole workbook of them.

Shiro likes listening to music while studying. He doesn't have a preference, but he did have a j-pop and k-pop phase when he was younger.

Shiro absolutely excelled in hand-to-hand combat training at the Garrison. He didn't think he needed to use that training until he was in the Gladiator Ring.

Shiro does not deal with loss well. If he needs to keep his composure, i.e. during a mission, he will. However bad his reaction is depends on the person and how close he was with them. He always shows his feelings (whenever he's busy) behind closed doors. Either he's alone, or with someone he trusts.

Shiro hates being a pessimist. But he is sometimes. He sometimes acts like that for things that literally don't matter. His friends blame his theater kid years for it.

Shiro mixes up his left and his right a lot. You have to say the opposite direction in order for him to go to correct way.

i’m suddenly having shiro brainrot which is a little weird since i started as a keith kin let’s be real and i have like a gazillion headcanons for this man that make So Much Sense in my head but mean Legitimately Nothing in the grand scheme of things

i’m expecting this to quickly become a ramble

Shiro (as part of Gen Alpha) knows what vine & tiktok are. he’s not exactly proud of his knowledge of social media but he definitely understands memes and internet lingo

this bitch was 100% self-labeled emo at one point. he was cringey even considering he never went all out in the fashion department. this quickly spiraled into him settling into being a little more goth/punk

he listens to the oldies. as in the classics like queen, the beatles, bon jovi, etc. he also listens to/likes more “emo music” than keith does

he also vehemently rejects his time as a classical musician (he was barely seven and he still doesn’t fully understand how reading music works)

contrary to popular belief, he can cook and bake. he’s just not very good to anything other than simple dishes like noodles/pasta, soups/stews, burgers/hotdogs, etc

he cooks like a dad, basically. no big flair, just aggressively mid home cooking

he grew up living with his step-grandparents instead of his dad & mom (long fucjing story)

he loves pastries especially muffins :)

he sucks at biking— like legitimate bicycling, however he can roller skate a bit

there’s probably definitely maybe going to be more i just don’t know if i’ll post it

Hello! :D I know it’s a silly question..but i was playing sims(as one does) and I wondered if you had any hcs of the paladins interior style? Like what colors (not only their signature I guess)and type of furniture? What type of home/apartment?I’d appreciate the help! Have a nice day!

okay absolutely have not had mental capability for like anything creative but I’ve also started a job in real estate so interior design make me go brrrrrrrr lately-

Shiro I feel like is either really plain and like necessities only or really homely. Like he either has the most basic cheap couches and tables and chairs and like, the plain white plates you can by at Walmart for like 10 bucks (you know the ones) and all the walls are just whatever color the previous owners/renters had them as so he has a random light pink room, a green room, etc. OR OR OR you walk in and get smacked in the face by comfort, like he has knick knacks and pictures and random antiques littering every surface, he has a china cabinet with the fancy dishes, he has a cabinet dedicated to coffee mugs and like only two of them match cause the rest of that set broke ages ago, all the other Paladins have their own designated mug, like it’s never specified but like, you KNOW the teal one with the cow that god knows where came from is Kieths, and that’s just how it works. I don’t think he has a specific color pallet bc it’d depend on like what the house looks like, and it’s either minimalistic or the vibe of the house.

Kieth has an apartment, his bed is on the floor, the only reason he has a couch is because Lance and Hunk just showed up with it one day and left it there. His cabinets are boxed Mac and cheese and canned beans, he uses paper plates/bowls and plastic cups/silverware, and there’s only like two pictures in the whole place, one of him and the other Paladins (and Allura and Coran) and one of him, his mom, and Kosmo. He’s not much of a stay in one place type so he doesn’t have a lot BUT if he were to decide to settle and make a home it’d have a garage, a huge backyard, and enough space for any and all of the Paladins to visit, and let’s face it, Lance probs did most of the decorating, as long as Keith has a place to sleep he doesn’t really care much what it looks like.

Lance is Aesthetic™️ and you can’t change my mind. He’s full on redecorating his house for every single holiday, his attic is a maze of shit only he knows how to navigate. His kitchen is probs black and white with a pretty accent color and his dishes all match the kitchen color scheme, like the fancy ones with the swooshy designs, ya know? So. Many. Throw pillows. Lol. Has pictures of his family and the paladins everywhere, along with various pieces of art. Walking in is like stepping in a magazine but at the same time feels so comforting.

Hunk plants everywhere. I don’t know how to explain it, but he’s a total plant dad. His kitchen is immaculate, the kind of place you love to hang out in, also has mismatched mugs bc he likes to collect them from places he’s gone and it’s a go to gift for him. I think he has a bunch of books on everything from How To guides to the entire Riordanverse. Tools scattered everywhere and various projects littering almost every surface. Has a blanket his grandmother knitted him draped over his couch. Random Voltron merch everywhere bc he can’t help himself when he sees it.

Pidge is either a clean freak with a perfectly put together house (as long as you don’t open those drawers) or it’s a fuckin mess and a half with a walking trail from one room to the next but otherwise there’s no way in hell. Also has projects literally everywhere, collections of random space tech, we’re not gonna question it. Probs a fairly monotonous place, lots of whites and greys, has an entire bookshelf for family pictures and sentimental things but aside from that, it’s the house of a scientist. Has a plush green lion on her couch. Has two perfectly cleared out mostly untouched guest bedrooms in case her family or any of the paladins visit.

I ended up making a Shiro headcanon on his PTSD, mainly because I feel like it was discarded in the show. Like S1-S2 had decent build up about it but afterwards, never hear about it again.

But you guys remember how Shiro in the early morning was doing push ups in his armor?

I’m thinking aside from Shiro’s flashbacks and nightmares, he would be on high alert at night or morning for a suspecting threat ready to jump out. He would end up coping through paladin exercises when the others aren’t awake/when he’s supposed to rest or being on guard to check around the Castle for any areas intruders could enter.

He’d probably play it off as being cautious as a leader but Shiro really just can’t stay idle when there’s always this inner voice inside him getting louder and louder of what threat could come for his team, his family if he lets his guard down and isn’t prepared.

I just love Shiro, my boy deserved so much better— 😭🖤
