“You have really good bone structure.”

“Thanks, I think.”

Chiaki doesn’t look up from her game.  This isn’t the first time one of her friends has said something to that effect; Junko had only a few moments into their first meeting, along with a comment about potentially getting her into modeling if she wanted.  (She hadn’t.)  It was nice to know she had options, maybe, and she occasionally considered letting Junko or even Sayaka give her a makeover as a sort of bonding exercise, but….

“Oh, you’re very welcome!”  Tsumugi curls up on the couch next to her.  “You have much sharper cheekbones than my plain old face—”

“Hey, hey!”  Chiaki nudges Tsumugi by leaning heavily against her and then sitting back up.  (She doesn’t really need both hands for this game, but it’s more fun to do this than to elbow her.)  “You’re far prettier than you think.”

Tsumugi sighs. “That’s just in cosplay.  Out of it, I’m nothing but plain old me.”

Tell that to your millions of Instagram followers.

Tsumugi would say they’re just there for the cosplay – whether that’s how she transforms herself into new and different characters or the tips and tricks she gives others so that they can learn to craft their own even better than before – but Chiaki knows different.  They’re there because Tsumugi – as herself – is kind and considerate, and because they like hyping up the different characters and shows she’s involved with (and there are so, so many).

Because Tsumugi is just as much a fan as they are.

(Which is why Chiaki likes her, too, although she won’t say that aloud.)

“But I’m not moaning my plain state,” Tsumugi continues.  Her lips twitch.  “I wanted to say there are a host of characters you’d look good as.”  A flush scarlets her cheeks and then just as quickly disappears.  “It’s plain to see that if you’re this pretty out of cosplay, you’d break hearts in it!”

Chiaki considers.

Modeling and fancy clothes and how Junko or Sayaka might dress her up aren’t her, but…but cosplay, maybe, she can do.  If they find the right character.  (And if she’s not doing it on her own.)

“I’d like that,” Chiaki says, finally glancing up to meet Tsumugi’s eyes, “I think.”

(She does not regret that as Tsumugi’s eyes immediately sparkle with a fervor not unlike Nagito’s when he talks about hope, but she almost does. Almost.)

Scared to post this, but here we go. A short excerpt from a fic I’m working on. Poor shark boys. Who wants to draw me this? :P

“Aonami.”

Samekichi could hear Sal’s childish voice calling his name – a name he hadn’t thought of in years – as he recalled the night they both found that white stone on the beach. To this day, Samekichi could recollect the cold yet warm air of that night as the salty spray of the beach blew on the two brothers on the beach. They had crouched around that stone, admiring its glow. It shined as bright as the moon.

“Do you think it came from there, Shiro?” Samekichi asked, pointing upwards towards the moon that hung over the dark blue ocean waves of the night.

Sal laughed, his eyes shining bright as he gazed up at the moon. “No, that’d be silly.” He then turned his gaze to his brother’s, seeing a bit of disappointment on Samekichi’s face. “But who knows? Stranger things have happened. Maybe this really is a moon rock.”

Samekichi beamed at his older brother, hearing those words of confirmation. “So it really did come from the moon! I knew that’s why it’s so shiny!”

Sal laughed as he sat back in the sand, happy to be off his feet from crouching next to that stone. The sand was still slightly warm from that day’s sunshine. He positioned himself to lie back against the sand, perpendicular to the stone. He put his hands behind his head to relax as he gazed up at the starlit sky. Samekichi found himself following his brother’s suit. The two gazed up at the bright night sky, silently listening to the wind and waves, the breeze ruffling their matching robes.

It stayed like this for minutes on end, though Samekichi lost track of time staring up at the vast night sky. Sal’s voice brought him back to reality.

“Aonami?”

Samekichi rolled over to his side to see Sal had turned to face him, too. The shining of that white stone in between them illuminated Sal’s face and blue eyes. Samekichi could see he had something on his mind from just the way Sal stared at him.

“Hmm? What’s wrong, Shironami? Are you not feeling well?” Samekichi reached out his small hand to Sal, who clasped it back with ease.

“Mmm mmm” Sal denied, shaking his head back and forth a bit, his cheek rubbing against the sand. “No, it’s nothing like that.” Sal paused a moment as he gazed down at the sand, then back at the stone, then back into Samekichi’s blue-gray eyes. “I was just wondering….If something so beautiful like this exists, do you think it could cheer mother up?”

tsumugi x chiaki for the ship meme? i’m *determined* to start this ship. determined. the ship name is officially shironami. because i said so.

who’s the cuddler: Chiaki. I think she probably likes to curl up with someone when playing a portable or when falling asleep.

who makes the bed: Tsumigi’s inherent organizational skills that she uses to keep her fabric and cloth types distinct and folded come into play when she neatly, smoothly makes the bed each day.

who wakes up first: Tsumigi! Because I always headcanon that Chiaki’s sleepiness from her Virtual Self is at least somewhat present in her real self, so Tsumigi just wakes up more easily than Miss Hypersomnia.

who has the weird taste in music: That depends on what you think is weirder: Video game soundtracks or anime theme songs? :) In truth, the two like each other’s musical tastes quite a bit. It’s easy for Tsumigi to get excited about the characters and stories in Chiaki’s games. Chiaki finds herself drawn into anime and manga adaptions of some of her favorite games, which starts to get her deeper into that world as well.

who is more protective: Tsumigi is a little more fiery and tends to view Chiaki as a vulnerable “cinnamon roll” (despite the fact that Chiaki can easily deliver a flying uppercut to anyone who threatens Tsumigi). So Tsumigi’s personality is more prone to delivering geeky verbal threats and playing up the protectiveness via aggressive anime quotes. “Mine is the drill that will pierce the heavens!” and whatnot.

who sings in the shower: I think these two are likely to hum or “la-la-la” some background scores/theme music from their pasttimes, but that’s about it. On occasion Tsumigi will start doot-doot-do-ing a theme song that Chiaki can’t recognize and that Tsumigi declines explaining to her.

who cries during movies: Either/both, depending upon the movie, but Tsumigi is more of an open crier than Chiaki is.

who spends the most while out shopping: Both their primary hobbies are expensive ones. I had to actually do some research to figure out that cosplay does cost more on average if you’re doing enough conventions per year. Based on that alone, I’ll say it’s Tsumigi.

who kisses more roughly: This is not typically an aggressive pair.They’ve gotta be really tender and gentle with each other. Sometimes, though, Chiaki “feels like being a stronger female character… I think.” So she can get a little aggressive in her kissing.

who is more dominant: Tsumigi. After all, we know how she likes to assume various personalities in herself, which speaks to a desire for control of herself and her environment. It’s a desire that more clearly is presented in the V3 main story timeline, wherein she literally seems to enjoy controlling people…

my rating of the ship from 1-10: I can picture this being really sweet if we pretend this is the Ultimate Talent Development Plan timeline and Tsumigi isn’t pulling any mastermind crap. In that timeline, it’s a solid 5 or 6.
