lately i’ve been exposed to these shows on free streaming called “judge mom” and “judge dad” and they’re both hilarious and disturbing. 

two people who definitely aren’t actual judges bring these oddly moralistic cases on, usually between young adults, and the kicker is that it’s all method acting. the cases aren’t real or based on anything. and judge “mom” and judge “dad” use moralistic “wholesome” reasoning instead of legal knowledge 4 times out of 5. they even have the actors record post-case videos to show how the “case” resolution worked weeks later. cue to quick credits, and a literal 3 second flash of a long sentence basically saying “pro wrestling is less scripted than this lol” in 9 point font at the bottom.

legit think it’s light propaganda for the older generations, even if it isn’t purposeful. the type of shit they try to play off as real, and the way they have people act (and how they act themselves), goes between funny and worrying. a lot of the defendants look and act like parodies of tropes about the millennial and zoomer generations.

something that occurred to me while watching the season 3a finale is that we have so far met 2 people who have abused and manipulated magnus in the past, and they both used the exact same rhetoric. both camille and asmodeus pull the "you're so lucky i deigned to show you affection when no one else wanted you" shit, even with almost the same wording. and in the show's continuity magnus was partially raised by asmodeus, so he's probably heard this since his childhood, possibly making it even easier to believe this stuff coming from camille. for the past one hundred years magnus has been trying to unlearn this way of thinking about himself and he is still not fully there. when camille taunts him with it he doesn't dispute it, he even tells simon that she was there for him when no one else loved him. you can see it in his little insecurities around alec, the way he seems surprised by every gentle touch and apology, by every time alec doesn't reject his "flaws" but accepts them. deep down, under that confidence, a part of magnus is still convinced that he is not worthy of love, that he is a bad person, that everyone who loves him will eventually leave and that he is going to be alone.

someone hug him, he deserves the world and a long ass vacation after this episode.

This designer just compared her vomitrocious bodice to Andy Warhol and Tim almost ate his face.

The look on the model’s face when a designer who’s about to go down in flames is delusionally talking about his glorious artistic vision. She hates what she’s wearing and she had to keep mum about it for two days including multiple fittings and now this idiot is gonna get publically scathed.

Dear MKR...

You have finally hit the fucking line, bombed it, and salted the sad, pathetic remnants. You have:

1) Put in a contestant who can’t cook ‘for the lolz’ (his kitchen CANNOT rule, don’t even fucking try)

2) You’re racist assholes (the ‘Cold War’ and ‘Reds under the bed’ references? Really?)

3) You edit for the worst of the conversations around the table (and now I don’t trust you not to have scripted them) and your judges haven’t the brains God has given them to call out basic unsporting behaviour

4) You have people vilifying traditional dishes. Meat jelly? Really? I get that not everyone’s heard of fucking ASPIC but if you’re on a fucking cooking show, shut the fuck up and open your fucking mouth. THEN critique it. And if that is not your base rule, then you need to take a long, hard look at yourself and the shit you’ re shovelling as a cooking show.
