so, a bunch of youtubers have started running ads for this service called "karma" recently. karma is a service that purports to helps you track discounts on items you're interested in online. however, in the reviews for the service (findable if you look up reviews using its older name, "shoptagr"), many users describe it as generating spam for items they have never expressed interest in, and say they've not been able to make this spam stop by deactivating the account they have with the service. additionally, this user claims that shoptagr/karma in fact charges the user a substantial premium for goods bought through the app - and in order to earn the paypal cash the service promises, you must buy products through the app.this in turn can negate the savings that this service claims to offer.
most suspicious of all, however, is the timing of this increase in marketing and change of name. after all, karma-née-shoptagr is an israeli owned company, and it seems to be making a conscious effort to push its brand in the immediate wake of israel's massacre of palestinians, when millions of consumers around the world have likely just been exposed to the idea of boycotts, divestments, and sanctions against israeli companies in response to the state's continuing genocidal violence.
so yeah. dont trust this sketchy-ass service
