I shifted to a random reality where I was in high school with a large friend group who were protective of me. They kind of barricaded me while we walked to class, and I asked them, “is it because I’m short?” I didn’t get an answer because I unintentionally shifted back. This shift was only for a few minutes, like in the past, but it was interesting nonetheless.

Jenson glanced at Finlay before leveling his gaze at Noah. “In any other team, you would be first seat, Noah, but not on this team.” Well, at least they weren’t going to play games. Noah hadn’t been anticipating being the choice for the first seat driver, but he’d figured it would be more of an unspoken thing. He and Finlay had always been very close in the standings, but Noah still considered himself to be the better driver. In the same car as Finlay, he always won. Okay, most of the time. Just not when it counted.
