Proximal humerus fracture
The anatomic parts of the proximal humerus are the humeral head, the anatomic neck, the greater and lesser tuberosity and surgical neck. Treatment with no or minimal displacement includes immoblization and early range of motion. More severe angulation requires orthopedic referral for operative fixation.
Right posterior sternoclavicular dislocation
X-rays often not helpful though may show subtle SC joint widening, CT scan is imaging of choice. Secondary to direct blow to SC joint (posterior) or anterolateral shoulder blow (anterior). Grades: 1st (sprain) -> 2nd (subluxation) -> 3rd (complete ligamentous rupture) with clavicle dislocation. Posterior SC dislocations should be reduced in the OR with orthopedic and thoracic surgery due to the risk of esophageal and great vessel injuries
