Oh, for sure:

The Drawing Board by strangergods (M, 28K, 10/10) -> excellent, fantastic, incredible Shoto angst hitting him in his pro hero years.

This is my go-to angst recommendations. But Shouto-fandom kind of strives on angst, so I have a long list:

Blood on My Shirt, Heart in My Hands by UmBriella (NR, 67K, 12/12) -> UA dorm fic, Bakugou learns about Shouto being abused

Raised by wolves by dorothycanfly (M, 27K, 5/5) -> part of a larger AU verse where Dabi kidnaps Shoto as a kid. This fic deals with the aftermath, and Shoto being fostered by Aizawa for a year. recommend the full series for lots of soba brothers twisted bonding and Todofam angst.

or: Bakugou asks Shouto what he likes. It takes Shouto a while to realize why it matters.

This is a stupid fucking idea. That’s what Fuyumi had said six months ago when Shouto had told her — minus the swearing, which had been Natsuo’s addition when he’d found out. The trail marker is a cluster of five squared posts in staggered heights, painted a weathered grey that's peeling away at the corners. The shortest barely comes up to mid-calf, while the tallest reaches a few inches above Shouto's head. Engravings on each post spell out Shouto's fate in stark, black-painted relief: Southern Terminus, Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. Mexico to Canada, the carvings say, 2650 miles. A stupid fucking idea.

“I don’t expect you to know me, and I don’t expect you to remember my face when I leave,” the man said. “While it has been decided that your organization has the most resources and money available to go forward with this case, there is a fear that you don’t have the tact needed for the mission. The skill someone from my organization can provide.”

“And what if we decide their help is unnecessary,” Izuku asked. He and Bakugou made a good team. A better than good team.

“If you do not want to work with us, then the case will no longer be your concern,” the man said, “But I assure you these heroes are the best. However, my recommendation, the one we need for this case, is on top.”

Both heroes looked at the case file in sync. The only print on the top file: Ghost.

Midoriya and Bakuogu are tasked with working with another hero in order to find and stop villains from unleashing a bioweapon, blind to the fact that the hero, known only as Ghost, knows more about them than he's letting on. He intends to keep it that way.

I can't recommend this fic enough with underground hero Shouto, lots of angst, intrigue, evil HPSC - all my favorite tropes together!

This year I participated as a bidder in @fandomtrumpshate, and received a fantastic Shoto-centric fic from the wonderful starburstsunshine centered around two small manga panels of the post-war dormitory system that's no longer compulsory and much emptier than it used to be.

It's the story how Shoto builds a home in this familiar, yet new place with a handful of friends with whom interaction are rarely explored in fic.

kee's Shouto POV is a delight to read, weaving together all the pain and all the healing as Shouto adapts to this new environment, building on personal growth.

The fic explores especially the group that stays behind in the dorms (Ojirou, Tsuyu, Shoji and Shinsou), adding Aizawa's presence as well, but of course, Shouto's important relationships with Deku, Bakugo and Iida as well as his feelings about his family are all part of this fic.

Highly recommended:

Weekends by abeewhowrites (Gen, 12K, 6/6) - very chill Shoto-centric 5+1 fic about his weekends in the dorms

High Gear by Tierfal (Gen, 12K, 1/1) - an Iida-centric 4+1 fic also lots of dorm SoL.

In Medias Res by whileyouresleeping (E, 250K WIP, TDBKDK) - I've probably recced this OT3 fic already. The weekly updates is always something I'm looking forward to.

the long way around by Vienne (Gen, T, 11K, 1/1) - Shoto centric fic after the war, with a Todofam focus.

RE: Deku's hero suit by hvwkeye (T, 4K, 1/1) - technically a tdbkdk with other background ships, but the focus is everyone chipping into Deku's suit. A fic written in the form of emails.

I'll carry you home tonight by OkeyDokeyTodoroki (swimtime) (T, <1K, 1/1, BKDK) - a short and emotional fic about the last flickers of OFA

I've started to write a fic during the Jump Festa when I was bummed out how Shouto's VA wasn't invited. The fact that Anime Japan panel was the same, gave me the push to finish this fic. (Which is a 5k vent-fic in a way).
