So, I hear show!Sansa has been getting some hate again.
Look, I won’t say I was 100% pleased with how Sansa was treated on the show last night- I won’t say I 100% loved the episode. But I was never hoping for her to fight- even in extremis, Sansa is not a stick them with the pointy end kind of person.
Maybe I was hoping we’d get some singing in the crypts, a nice parallel with the Battle of the Blackwater. Maybe I was hoping to see her giving her people some hope.
But I don’t hate what happened with Sansa last night. She was scared- terrified even, and that’s far more relatable to me than the courage of the characters fighting on the front lines. The whole point of Sansa is she’s the sort of character who never gets a voice in fantasy- the daughter, the wife, the princess in the tower. She’s not a fighter.
She is a survivor though- more than anything, in the books and on the show, she survives things that I truly believe would kill or break other characters. And we were shown her survival, and in her own way, she protected Tyrion too, even just from himself.
If you only like Sansa when she is throwing around snarky one liners, if you think she should have fought, then I don’t think you know the character at all. And I’d suggest your misogyny is showing.
